In an earlier 'long stroke' thread we discussed them, but those were pneumatical orbitals. This a normal, electric powered one.

I suppose, it must generate more heat than the ordinary short strokes, therefore it must be used more carefully. But it is quicker, and will correct more... FYI Flex is another brand name for Porter Cable; available in Europe.

Any comments??? Potential paint burns?

Sounds like an excellent alternative to a PC. I think it might actually be a different company.

The 8.8mm stroke is similar to a PC, so I wouldn't think it would have any paint burn issues.

Flex is a German company and, if memory serves me correctly, is owned by Porter-Cable.

As I understand it they make excellent products. The highly regarded PC 7428 rotary polisher is manufactured by Flex.

I would guess their R-O unit is also excellent.

PC.

Hi guys!

It was a bit slow thread, but anyhow...

According to my small researches, the average stroke of the PCs are somewhere between 2.5 to 3 mms (1/10 - 1/8 inches.) Most Bosch polishers work with 2.7 mm stroke, most Makitas doing 3.1. Even the two-mode DA/rotary BO6040 tops out at 5.5, so the 8.8 mm of this Flex is more than considerable!

Anyone who used a long stroke (or throw) DA?

Sounds like a great idea. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem that Porter Cable carries that particular model in the US. Still worth looking into, imo.:xyxthumbs

if you click on "United States" portercable.com is listed.

Yeah, I was there, and checked around, but i did not see

anything resembling that model. I was thinking just

to give PC (US) a call tomorrow to see whats up. If it

is available, i would definitely prefer this over the Festool

Bence, how did you get 3mm for the PC's stroke? When I'm buffing, I can visibly see an 8-9 mm one-way pad throw, maybe 10!

The Flex looks like an excellent tool, though.
