LOL, te quarter car wash and 20* weather

I did it last night; there's a blizzard here today, 12 to 20 inches predicted by mid-day Monday.

I took my 5 gallon can of hot water, 2 buckets, my wash mitts, my car wash concentrate, and my Water Blade and ww drying towel, and a pocketful of quarters.

It worked really well, right up until the end, after I'd CWB'd the beads off, and while I was drying the last of the water.... What was this? GLUE? TREE SAP? HUH?

It was ICE! The water had frozen before I had a chance to dry the car completely!

At least I didn't have to worry about the water picking up dust as I drove home!

Today, in the garage, I'm going to turn on the twin banks of halogens and the heater, and wax it while the snow flies outside.

LOL, Mosca thank you for bringing back the great memories! I used to live in Upstate NY and this used to happen all the time.

One time (at band camp:D) I remember it being soo cold outside that one of the doors wouldn't close. Apparently water had entered into the door latch and stuck it open:doh , slam after slam the door kept swinging open. I had to turn the heat on high and wait until the ice melted before I could leave. Learned my lesson.

Enjoy the snow!!!

Mosca... the ice will pick up dust .. I do that same method once or twice a week but ours is enclosed so I can dry it in there. Trouble is you always get those dribbles that come out when you drive. They freeze and suprisingly pick up dust so just be a little careful.

I live in Northern Michigan and I Hate To Look at My CARS! All the touchless washes and coin wands just make your car look like someone who doesn't know how to detail a car has been working on it! Thank God I can store two of them and look at them to get my clean car fix! Spring can't come quick enough! I almost look forward to the April challenge! Making my plans right now and buying myself Xmas gifts to put to good use when it ever gets above freezing!

If I remember right, for some reason, and don't ask me why, hot water freezes faster, that's what I heard.

If you want to wast in cold water, get your car running with all heat high, and leave it running while you wash it, and do it in the sun if possible.

Did you know heated water will freeze quicker than cold water, don't believe me. Test it out, reason is because hot water has less oxygen molecules. Learned that from the weather channel!

I believe it...I saw a news reporter up north throw a cup of hot water into the air and it turned to powder!...It was real cold that day.

Mosca, I heard that there was 2 seasons in PA...The 4th of July & winter. :D

I will take a picture of the Car Wash Bay when the temp drops here in Phila. The walls are completely covered in ice from the wand spray freezing. You end up in a Winter Wonderland when you wash the car.

I wiped down the doors jambs and went on with the rest of the truck. I tried to open the door and it had frozen shut. Next time I think I will leave the truck on and the heat on high while I was.

A few weeks ago during the heavy snow in the Northeast I passed by the car wash at 5:55 am going to the health club next door and there were plow trucks loaded with salt washing their trucks.

We are not alone. :)

New Years Resolution: Carry the Digital Camera in the truck to capture some of these Autopian Moments.

When I was in high school, I washed my car in -20 F in the self serve, my whole body was frozen and I guess my brain was too that day...what was I thinking! I slipped twice in the bays too.
