Little Green or Wet/Dry Vac

Type, I use to use the Wet/dry vac (and an APC) to clean carpets, then I got the bissle little green machine. Lately however, I personally feel as if I didn't need to get the little green and got them just as clean, if not cleaner, just using the Wet/Dry vac. I'm sure others on here will view this topic differently, and my view isn't in stone yet even for myself. But my experiences up to now are that wet/dry vac does it at least as good as the green machine.

So in close, you're going to need a good vacuum cleaner anyways to pre-clean the carpets, so you might as well get a wet/dry vac, and not spend the extra money on the bissle. But of course that is just my opinion.

The caliber of cars I deal with in my business doesn't yield the use of a professional extractor. I picked up my 6.5hp Craftsman 2.5 years ago with accessories for about $115 or so on sale. I bought my Lil' Green about a year ago for $70 on ebay I believe.

Here's the thing, I used to dowse my carpet mats with water and APC all the time. The bad part about this is that it takes A LOT of time, and more than twice the time for them to dry. It has been in my experience that if you use a quality carpet cleaner, then you can yield great results with the Lil' Green. I DON'T ever use APC (learned that) when using the Lil' Green as it soaps up and ton and I found out it takes A LOT of fresh water to rinse out; again, A LOT more time consuming.

So in closing, I saw it more as a time aspect, and in this business, time is money~~

Just to add, 4.5hp takes quite a bit longer to suck up water, and with only 3 gallons, you'll find it fill up quickly. If you opt for the wet/dry vac, I would suggest a higher HP. BTW, I just saw the Lil' Green Machines during Valentines Day at Costco as well. It was indeed the ProHeat version (the one you should want), however, I don't remember the cost. :dunno

Good luck in your decision, and hope I brought a little insight to you on them.

Thanks for the insight guys. So Nick, are you saying that I should go with the Little Green? In the end I probably will go with the Little Green. I was going to get it at Costco, it's $78 and some change. Thanks guys.

If you already have a quality tool for vacuumming the interior then I would suggest buying the LGCM. However, if you are looking for one tool to do both the vacuumming and extracting go with a powerful shop vac, like Nick said something in the 6.5HP range would be perfect. Filter in for vacuum stage, filter out for extraction.

A wet/dry vac is crucial in detailing and "can" do both jobs, but IMO, you cannot have a Lil' Green and NOT have a wet/dry vac.

I have both and find that they are both equal in my details. I use the LGM after a good vac and pre treatment and find that it lifts almost every thing that I need done. I've also done the shop vac with brushes and APC to. As NICK stated it takes more time and can leave the rugs pretty wet.

If you can aford both I'd go that way if not then the shop vac.

Oh and thanks for the imput on Costco my LGM is on its last leg this year so now I'm on a fence post as to up grade to a proline or get another LGM.

For those who choose the LGM, as I did because I have a Dyson Animal that will suck up your kids if you not careful, they can be puchased on E-Bay for 60.00 remanufactured and that included shipping. The one I purchased works just fine, it is the Proheat version and the only thing I will purchase it the sprayer crevice tool from Bissell.com. It costs 2.95 plus about the same amount for shipping. My only criticism is that the hose could stand to be longer.
