Little green machine cleaning solution

So, I know the little green machine has been talked about over and over. Yes, I did a search and read them all.

When using your LGM do you use the bissle carpet cleaning solution designed for the machine?

Do you use just clean water to extract after pretreatment or some other type of carpet cleaning process. I.E. oxy method, APC, foam cleaners.

I prespray and extract with clear water.
The reason for this is:
1) It allows longer dwell time for the chemicals to do their job. If you were to use a shampoo solution in the water tank, applying and extracting in one motion, on a dry carpet, you'd be allowing about 2 or 3 SECONDS of dwell time for the solution to break up the dirt/grime before being sucked up the hose. You'd need a pretty powerful cleaner to clean it all that fast!
2) By extracting with clear water you are removing the detergent residue from the carpets. This means you have just clean carpet left behind. Residue (some more so than others) left in the fibers can attract and hold dirt to itself, thus causing the carpet to re-dirty itself faster. When you use the solution in the tank and don't do a clear water extraction, you are leaving some residue behind.

I find that doing a prespray and then a clear water extraction doesn't make a big difference in the time it takes to do the carpet, and the results I get are much better.
