So I ordered my PC and it should be ariving next week!! So my question, if it is a 7336 and had a 6in counter weight I use a 6 inch backing plate, think im good so far...but do i use pads that are 7.5 inches so it covers the edge of the backing plate or are they designed to be used the same size? Ok next question I have heard that the lake country pads are great but what size do you guys recomend 6inch or 7.5 inch any dofference in use other than serface area covered? Thanks in advance!

generally, almost 99% of the time u want to use a pad thats abouut an inch from the egde of the backing plate. only exception would be adams pads which seem to be crap if u ask me.

anyways, i do have a suggestion. u really think u should think about smaller backing plate/ pads. the larger they are, the harder it is to polish out defvects. atleasy with the pc.

wow jay that link rocks!

and joyride, i do need to remove some defects at first...is it advantagous to get a smaller backing plate and pads for defect removal, but when i go to just do a paint polish should i get bigger ones? I really appreciate all the help i just want to do the right thing.

Hawaiian, do you use the 7 1/2 inch pads with a PC or rotary?

Its for my PC . They fit really tight on a Porter Cable rotary though..but work.

The smaller pads get more spin I guess . Is that why they're better for defect removal?
