Lip in bad shape

Hey guys...here's a pic of one of the lips on the wheels goin on the Z here soon. All four pretty much look the same. All I've tried so far is some cheap polish that I had, as you can see it was wasted effort. However, I can tell you the applicator pad turned black. Currently I don't have a drill...am I going to have to get one, and a flitz ball as well as some good polish to bring these things back?

Thanks!

For polished aluminum non coated as you have...the metal polish I use is Zephyr pro-40...A polish ball would be a good add on for you...heat is what it takes to do a good job on that metal...for removing the black residue that is left over...use corn starch on a towel to clean the rim...sounds funny but works like a charm

I'd listen to advice given above and add a wheel wax to the end of the process. You wouldn't believe how much it helps.

Thanks for all the input guys!!

I'm kinda running out of patience, and getting very anxious to get these wheels back on...I was wondering...do you think it might do some good to go back at it with the never dull, and use a little more elbow grease, and work??? I'm not afraid to put in the time on them...if you think it will work I can probably get it done before I get the chance to get some zephyr here. Also, is there anything else you can think of that would work for removing the residue, aside from corn starch?

Thanks again!

It wouldn't hurt to try them again. It would probably look a little better. The drill and the Flitz ball will generate much more needed heat as opposed to hand. You'll be able to burnish the alloy much better giving you that shine you want.:)
