Would a full spectrum flood light be an acceptable light to check for marks in the paint of a vehicle when compounding and polishing?.

I know the best thing to use is all natural sunshine but would this be a decent alternative?.

Not a big fan of flourescent lights. Only used them a few times though. I have a few 500 watt halogen lights which is all that I use. I guess I have 6 of them altogether. I have 2 sets of 500watts on stands and 2 singles that I can move around where i need them. It'll be hard for a defect to go unnoticed with that!
 
I've got flourecent lights in my garage, but for real lighting on the car I use the 500 watt halogen lights. I've got two on the celing and two on a mounts that I can move around and check the car at the harshest angles. If you can get rid of swirls under those lighting conditions then you still won't be able to see them in the sun.
 
Another vote here for halogen lights. I have 2 500 watters on a stand like mentioned above. I have some other really big lights hanging in the garage. They are track lights, and they look nifty haha. But as mentioned above the 500 watters are about the best way to go.
