Lifespan of a pad

What is the general lifespan of a pad for the PC? How do I know when it's time to retire one?



Also, do the lifespan of the pads vary by their color?



I'm using CMA's pads (if that makes any difference).

i have used my yellow cma pad about 15 times with no visible wear. it probably depends though :nixweiss

The answer to your question is highly variable... which is why you're not getting an answer. When the pad begins to visibly wear (chunks missing), it's time to toss it out. The pads do wear differently by grade. Plus, the pads will wear differently based on the products you use (compound vs. glaze). Machine speed is also a factor, as is how you use it.

I guess I should have been more specific. I was really looking to find out when it's time to toss the pad, not how long it will last.



From what you posted, you can use the pad until it begins to visibly fall apart (eg. chucks begin to fall out).
