I was at the Lexus Dealership today and asked the service people what the best way to clean the leather is and they said the best thing is warm soap and water to clean the leather and lexol conditioner but she specifically said DO NOT USE the lexol cleaner. She says shes been working with the lexus leather for 6 yrs and she says it contains some ingredient that is to harsh. Is this true about the cleaner?

JasonC8301 might be able to help you out on that one. He is selling some in the abay forum here. He has used it and may know a little bit about it.

WHAT? i've never heard of this b4. so many lexus owners i know uses lexol!

can someone confirm this story? i think it's totally ridiculous. is the lady try to sell Lexus' Cleaner&conditioner?

:scared I certainly hope that the report on Lexol is incorrect. I just bought some three weeks ago and used it on Jag leather and MG leather seats. I did not see any damage or color change. I have done custom leather tooling ( clothes, belts, saddles, etc) since I was 10 YO and have used lexol on almost every leather out there. I have never known any other product that was so highly recomended for leather itself. However, I have NOT used it on finished ( with coloring and sealers) leather auto interiors until now. I will also be awaiting mor info on Lexol.

I have been using Lexol leather cleaner for quite some time with very good results. I only use it when something is dirty. I like using it frequently on the leather wrap on the steering wheel. Hopefully someone can clarify this because I think the Lexol cleaner is great but have not made my mind up about the Lexol conditioner yet. Almost forgot really works well on door pannels and dash.

i've been using lexol cleaner and conditioner for the last 6 months or so with no problems.

however, I am starting to notice those crease marks appearing (the car is just over 1 year old). anyone think the connolly hide food will help this?

ultimately, the point is to keep the leather and seams moisturized. my lexus dealership recommended the lexol over their own product line. :nixweiss

That problem with your leather seems to be fairly comon in the GS300 as far as I can tell. I've done several of those and they have all had that same problem. My drivers seat in my Acura is doing that right now too and there are only 43,000 miles on it.

Try some leatherique. I used it on both of our BMWs and I never had anything work as good. Just follow the directions.

IMO the leather in the Japanese/american cars in not as good as the leather in the european cars. I was looking for a 94 SC400 back when I bought the 540. The interiors in most of the cars where trashed. Maybe they didn't take care of them that well :nixweiss Seemed to me at the time that the seats in the Lexus models I looked at where cracked very bad. Yes most of the cars had 100k+ miles on them, but it seemed to me that the BMWs I looked at with the same miles may have had dirty interiors but the leather looked alot better. :nixweiss

Then again my brother had a 91 acura legend coupe that he had bought new. All he ever did was wipe the leather seats down with a towel damp with water when he washed the car. They seats looked very good with no cracks when he sold it last month. I think the car had over 160k miles on it.

In the car of my Z06 I can already see after 10k miles that the leather is thin and cheap. It will get some leatherique when it warms up.
