Let's say you have two parking spaces...

...and you needed to park your car. One of the spaces was all shaded by an oak tree. The other space was all open under the hot sun. Which would you choose?



...and if a tree fell in the forrest when no one was around...would it make a sou---nevermind, I'll stop there.



btw, i did a search on this and nothing came up.
 
I'll avoid parking under any tree. Now if the parking spot in the sun is being crowded on either side. I'll come back later rather than risk my door getting dinged.
 
I'd choose sun.



Being under a tree poses too many risks, bird bombs, tree sap, berries, branches and leaves.



I think a well waxed car will be protected from the sun anyway.
 
I try to stay away from parking under, or near trees. You never know when a bird leaving that tree, has to go #2. Out in the sun, would be the best choice. Thats if you waxed your car right.
 
Ok. So I'm not alone. I agree with you guys. Plus, I'm tired of the leaves and debris falling inside my outdoor A/C vents. Clogs up the cabin filter bad. :angry
 
I'd stay away from the tree.



I'd stay out of the sun.



I'd leave my car in my garage, covered, locked, alarmed, and Dobermaned. Then I'd call a cab to take me whereever.

Sun all that way. I don't want that rogue branch falling my car or better yet, those cute little birdies walking all of my hood and roof.



Plus, full sun allows other to gawk at your car and finish :) And maybe just maybe, you can get the sun to shine off the front light like Scottwax seems to be able to do!

I'd go the sun all the way. I parked my truck under trees this past week and there were pollen, some dead flowers, and a whole lot of tree sap. I'm gonna have an awesome time cleaning that up this weekend. I can't snap a pic b/c it's raining today but if it ever dries up, I'll take a pic.



P.S. I had no choice where I park b/c 90% of the parking spaces here are covered by trees. In addition, I go to NC State University. Spaces are very very very very very very limited so if you can find one in your parking zone, you'll take it. So like I said, I had no choice. :(

I don't know about if the tree fell in me, but if it fell ON me I guarantee you'd hear screaming, hollering and shouts of pain.



BTW, I'd take the sun and a good cover (which I always do). I hate washing the covers.
 
I'd definately take the sun spot, provided they were both equally arranged in terms of space.



In terms of priority for good spots

from best to worst

1. End of a row, in the sun. Decreases your chances of some a-hole dinging you by 50%, plus no sap



2. parallell parking in sun. Still not much chance of door dings, but now you're depending on others to not hit you while pulling in or out.



3. typical *dreaded* parking. Everyday side by side stuff. I hate doing this. I've seen so many people do irresponsible and just mean things to other people's cars.



best lesson though is--if there's not enough room to park your car and allow your neighbors to enter theirs easily, you can expect a nice healthy dent in your door.
 
Of course, the best spot would be a couple/three spots away from the tree but, due the the angle of the sun, STILL in the shade.



Now that you have found that perfect spot...get out the orange cones for the spots on either side of you. haha

If I was detailing, then I'd go with the shade. I do a lot of cars under tress including my truck, which I detail under a Oak tree. Working in a parking lot in direct sun during the summer is so hot! We get lots of heat and Humidity here! You get wet and stay wet! Shade here I come!



For normal parking I'll park under trees if I have to. I really don't care as tree sap isn't a problem to me and I wash my truck not to get upset by bird poop. I've also found pre treating the bird poop with Valugard's Omni APC helps it come off easily. I've also use Eagle One's Quick Detailer and Poorboy's Spray and Wipe as a pre-treat for bird poop before washing to soften it up and it works really well!
