Lets get technical

As the automotive finishes are constantly changing over the years, I would like to start this thread to help everyone and myself gain more knowledge. Whatever information you are able to share, would be appreciated. Working on cars over the years, I have gotten a feel for paints that are soft and hard, and I have gotten a feel for Mercedes Clear coat. Please feel free to post whatever tips or info. Thank you in advance!!

Hate to burst the bubble so early.. But I tried this already:

http://www.autopia.org/forum/profes...on/110540-official-hardness-clear-thread.html

And people were getting way to technical and started cat arguments instead of looking at the main point of the thread.

What it came down to: Everyone is different, every process is different, every paint is different (even from same manufacturer), every area a detailer works has different CLIMATE.

All of those go in to effect as to what makes what polish work with what paint, and what paint responds best to what process used.

Today, Bob and I used M105 then went to ultrafina, but maybe if it was cooler out, we could have used SIP and the 106 or SIP then 85rd. Even on the same exact car, only changing one element: climate.

Anyways, interested to see what other people have to say :wavey
