I maybe getting new Tacoma soon. I'm looking at getting red. I have always had white vehicles. How hard is it to maintain red paint and how bad does dirt/scratches show? Is red a full time job like a black vehicle?

red is a tricky color. Although it isn't a dark color, it could have a very rich depth that rivals with the black color.

I'd be more concerned about the stigma that is associated with owning red pickup truck.

Though red isn't quite as dark as blue in terms of white versus black, red usually shows defects more, and looks deeper IMO. This is probably because red paint jobs are a lot less likely to be pearl/metallic than blue. Red certainly has a beautiful glow to it and benefits largely from good upkeep, but isn't the nightmare (nor reward) of keeping black perfect.

IME, no other color shows the difference in a 'nuba versus a sealant better than red in terms of glow vs. shine. Maybe because I own a red car myself?
