Legal Papers?

I was wondering if any of you professional detailers have papers for your customers to sign to keep you from getting involved with legal issues if you ruin a persons car or they say you did something to it. Since, I'm starting out a small business I would like to keep myself from getting involved with this stuff.

I'm asking both mobile and shop detailers.

Also, does anyones customers allow you to pick up their cars and drive them to a spot to detail? Is their signature needed for this?

Your best bet is to talk to a lawyer in your area and have them draft up some paper work for you. You could probably ask your insurance company as well because you will need/want insurance anyway.

Thanks for the advice, I'll look into that.

I remember hearing somewhere that some of your own car insurance can cover damage to other's cars. Anyone know if this is true?

Definitely need insurance for your business. I stay away from engines because of liability issues. Most of my customers are fine with me driving their cars, however, there is a few who will not allow it.
