Leather coat conditioning

I have a very good leather coat that has a white cast to it. What do you guys think I should use to bring it back to good condition?

If your coat has a sort of white bloom on it the chances are it is suffering from spew. This is when the fats in the leather become destabilised and 'spew' to the surface. You will need a specialist product to rectify this. Spew Remover is the only product that will resolve the problem - in stock if you need to order. If you are not sure if this is what the problem is post some photos or email some to me for verification. Using Conditioners that contain oildps or waxes could make problem worse so should be avoided.



Once dealt with the coat can be Cleaned and protected.

Spew (Spue) is a solidified fat or fatty acid, when the fat liquor introduced during the re-tanning process is destabilised and rises to the surface of the leather creating a white haze or film on the surface. The conditions under which the spew forms (temperature, humidity, changes in temperature, etc.) can be a clue to which type is active on your leather. This will look dry but have a greasy/fatty feel to it. If it is cleaned off it will almost certainly return as it requires a stabilising product to re balance the fats.

You mention once corrected it can be protected and conditioned - what would be used at that point?
