So I'm getting back into the part time detailing game (its good money!) and I wanted to share my opinion on my favorite Chemical Guys product:
Leather Cleaner Plus Conditioner Combo Deal 2 Step Solution For Restoring Old Leather (Leather Cleaner 16 Oz. & Pure Leather Conditioner 16 Oz.)
Their leather cleaner and leather conditioner.
Now let me set the tone for this post... I don't use this product on my car or "high end" details. Previously I was using Zaino because lord almighty did it smell good and feel great. But Zaino leather products are too expensive to be used on lower end or volume details. And thats where this stuff comes in.
The cleaner is basic. Probably not all that much different than an APC. But it honestly does work. I usually apply it with the PC Feather Brush attachment and watch the leather's color and texture change before my eyes.
The conditioner requires a bit of finesse. Add too much and the leather gets a greasy feel. But add just enough, or follow with a microfiber rub down, and you get great results. The leather has a smooth but not slick feel and it adds just a dash of color vinyl. Perfect for showing the customer that product is in fact there but not so over the top that it looks like you slopped grease on the vinyl/leather. As for the smell... well its not as good as Z10 (and honestly, does ANYTHING smell as good as Z10?) but it smells more than good enough for a $99 interior detail.
And heres the kicker, you can grab both the cleaner and conditioner for about $15. Oh yea :buffing:
As for what I'll be placing on my car/high end details next... I purchased LM Strong, LM Protectant Condition, and LM Vital. I'm going to test those out on my vehicle (Infinity G37 w/black leather) and see how that goes.
While I'm at it, a question: How do you guys handle stitching in leather? Obviously I'm not going to apply the PC Feather Brush attachment to that area. In fact, I was thinking of using blue painters/electrical tape over that area just in case and ten using a tooth brush to go over it by hand. Anyone had any luck with the tape/tooth brush combo?
Till next time,
Daniel
