Leather care Griot's style.... questions

When I run out of Z-10 (which has long been my go-to conditioner) I am thinking of giving the Leather Care from Griot's a try just for curiosity's sake. Looking back at some old posts, it seems a lot of people really like it, and it may just be cost effective because from what I have read, a little goes a long way.

Anyways, my question is regarding cleaning prior to using the Leather Care. First, I am assuming the Leather Care itself does not have any cleaning ability of its own. My seats are NOT neglected, but it is a daily driver with normal wear and tear. Would I want to use the Leather Rejuvinator prior to Leather Care or simply use the Interior Cleaner and then Leather Care? As they are, they are conditioned every other week and the only cleaning I need is getting some of the dried Z10 that has turned white out of the contours of the leather.

I plan on picking up a few items after much research (car wash, speed shine, interior cleaner, wheel cleaner, leather care, undercarriage spray, and a few applicator pads/sponges).

I can't really tell you anything about the Griot's Leather Care products, but if you're already making an order with Griot's I HIGHLY recommend you get yourself a couple of packages of their wheel brushes. They're AWESOME.

Griot's Interior Cleaner is one of my faves, so I usually just clean with that. But if the leather's really dirty you can try something like Lexol's cleaner.

The leather brush that Griot's sells is OK, but some people don't like it (too soft or too stiff or too expensive or something else...). I use mine but it's nothing special and I sometimes reach for something stiffer.

I don't use the rejuvenator all that much, I'd just get the regular stuff unless you have issues with your leather being dried out. Since you condition yours so often (every other week  ) you won't need the rejuvenator.

I dunno....I've been using the Griot's forever but I don't think it's really anything that great. I usually only use it on my S8, and I sometimes think I use it on that because I have to use it up. I use different stuff on the A8 and other stuff on the Jag and it's not like any car's leather is holding up better than the others. The Connolly (sp?) leather in the Jag didn't like the Griot's, always looked blotchy because it wouldn't soak in evenly.

Oh, and get the little BHBs for washing nooks and crannies (like inside the fuel filler pocket, doorjambs, etc.). Pn 15520 (I've memorized this I recommend them so often!) for about $30. I absolutely couldn't wash without them, this one's a no-brainer. And yeah, the BHBs for wheels are something else I use every time.

Accumulator- The leather in my GTO is kinda picky I have found. It's not like the leather in any of the other GM vehicles I have owned. It's more (dare I say) BMWesque. It is much more grainy and textured than the other GM leather seats. The Poorboy's Leather Stuff worked OKAY on it but I wasn't thrilled. It is a little too shiny for my likings. The only problem I've had with the Z-10 as I mentioned earlier is the white residue it tends to leave behind (maybe I'm using too much of it). I think I'll just get the 8 oz. version for the trial run and see how it pans out. Those BHB's caught my eye as well. I've been looking for something similar so I may just give them a try. And yeah, I get a little carried away with the conditioning.... I'm sorta paranoid about my leather seats.

Mikey- Thanks for the recommendation. Those look like they may really work well for the spokes on my Z06.

Someting to consider- I dunno if it'd be an issue with your seats, but with leather footwear and holsters you and *over condition* leather if you do it too often. Causes trouble at the stressed areas around the stitching and can also cause it to be a bit too soft for optimal functionality.

I use their car wash, it's a little expensive but I like it alot. One tip, I went to purchase some for my dad and I noticed that it was $29.99 and it used to be $19.00. I pointed that out and they gave it to me for $19.00. I think $30.00 is a bit expensive for car wash.

Heh heh, when *I* pointed out the increase they basically told me "that's life", and I buy it four gallons at a time! Expensive yeah, but the lubricity is just great.
