LCR Big Detail

A work friend asked if I could sort out a small scuff on his bumper this then turned out to been a full detail on his car.

I had a seat before but not a solid black one. I found the paint work very hard. I had a very tight time frame to do this car. The car was dropped off to me at 10 am and had to be done for 4:15pm.

This is how the car arrived.

Overall the paintwork didn’t look to bad.

So I gave the car a good soak in Super Snow foam using my Sud Blaster Gun. And treated the lower half with chemical guys citrus wash. I then soaked the wheels and arches with poorboys APC.

I then washed off

I then re-washed the car with Super snow foam, and used the two bucket method and my new Schmitt. I washed the wheels with a very dilute mix of megs wheel brightener and used a megs wheel brush.

I then dried the car with Pakshak WW towel (pat dry method)

I then taped up the car and really inspected the paint work. Some nice marring and swirls.

Now onto the nice scuff.

I said that I would do my best but could not promise anything. I had previously pre-soaked some megs uni-grit 3000 wet dry paper

I did a couple of passes, checked and then did a couple more, I decided that I could not risk doing anymore.

I then attacked the rear scuff with 4” light cut pad and optimum Hyper compound.

This is what I was left with after a few passes

I then did the rest of the car with poorboys SSR2.5. after this was all done I removed residue with pakshak ultra plush towel.

I then did the whole car with Megs #80 with 6.5” white LC pad. I then Red moose machine glazed the car both wiping off with pakshak towels. I then tackled the inside.

Hovered the inside, Cleaned the mats treated plastics with poorboys natural trim dressing and then cleaned the glass with megs NXT glass cleaner and glass microfiber towel.

I then back to outside removed the Tape and did a coat of megs #26 wax and then a coat of poorboys Nattys blue wax. I then treated the archers to Wonder wheels dressing and the tyres to megs endurance Gel. I then gave the wheels a quick was with the new turtle Wax extreme wax. I then Gave the exhaust a quick once over with Autosol and 00 wirewool and a coat of megs NXT Metal polish.

I wish I had more time as I was not 100% happy with the finish with only about 85% of defects removed.

I just managed to finish as the owner cam round the corner. I explained to the owner I wasn’t 100% pleased with the job but he could not find any faults and was over the moon. A few more full photos will be added later. .

Here are the afters

Any comments welcome.

Did you get paid for this? Or was it a deal between buddies?

Great work BTW. Car looks fantastic! Good write-up also!

Great job the car looks good.
Don't you just hate it when you are pushed for time and not be 100% happy with the job when if you could have an extra hour or 2 you could be.
Well done anyway.
Cheers Dave
