LC CCS Pads and UDM

eShine

David, we are arranging to order the UDM’s for eShine. We are also currently switching over to Lake Country 6.5 CCS pads, are there any reported problems using these pads or can they take the extra nuts of the UDM?

^+1.. I'd also like to know this as well since i just ordered some CCS pads for my UDM. i hope i didnt waste my money..:scared:

No problems for me. I'm using the 5" pads with a 4.75" BP. They heat up pretty good in some cases but have no problem holding up.

How does that 4.75" plate work on 6.5" pads I wonder. I have a large order of CCS pads in the works and want to make sure I have pads that work for both the PC and UDM.

I believe the only requirement David mentioned was that the pads should use PUR glue. I'm not 100% sure if there are differences between the glue used on CCS pads with the white and black velcro, but the pads with the black velcro backing have proven to be much more durable in the long run.

Dave

I'm discovering some interesting facts regarding the UDM and pads:

1. The UDM has a lot more torque than the PC so it can be run at a slower speed to accomplish the same tasks. You really only need to "crank it up!" when cutting off heavy swirls and scratches. As as a result, I'm not experiencing as much Velcro damage.

2. The torque combind with added pressure allow the pad to heat up faster to better work the polish. That means you can use a more agressive polish with a less agressive pad and get a better final finish (as long as the polish breaks down properly)

3. A smaller backing plate is working well (for me) because the pad gets warm and stays warm... whereas with the PC I felt I needed a larger backing plate to lay down the power and get the pad up to temperature.

I don't see any issue with the CCS pads on the UDM when used with a 5" backing plate.

Don't buy LC pads from CMA, that's all the advice I can give you... UDM will fling them across the room in a matter of minutes.

I can't wait to get my UDM... David do you have a spare laying around somewhere that needs a good home ? :p

Have experienced and issue with LC pads we're not aware of?

David i think he is relating to an issue with velcro backing pads seperating from the one purchased through CMA

Okay... but that sounds like an LCM issue, not a CMA issue. I have no doubt that CMA handles product defect issues with complete professionalism.

I think he said CMA because I think CMA is the only place carrying the pads with the blue edging that seemed to have the bad rap.

Ah... my bad! I'll just get back to what I was doing and keep my mouth shut :waxing:

Danase is right David... only CMA carries the LC pads that are contoured, have the blue foam on top of the LC foam, and then a white backing... the pads I bought a year or more ago are still fine, but the few pads I ordered recently, CCS and old contour style (which they don't carry anymore), the backing has come apart VERY VERY easily... the older style ones have lasted me longer, maybe 2 washes until it starts coming apart, while the CCS are just horrible... I had 4 of the CCS pads and they all came apart in my hands while washing...

You are right though, CMA has great customer service and took care of the issue immediately... However it's not really convenient for me to buy 20 pads, then send them back 1 by 1 for another 2 after every 1-2 details...

eshine, *I* use the 6" BP with the 6.5" pads and prefer them that way *if* I used them with a DA. I will use 5" pads 99% of the time however.

Thanks for the info guys. By the sounds of it I wont have to order seperate pads for the UDM. Personally I have been doing swirl removal with the 4" pad on my PC and find the smaller pad works much better. I may use this theroy and drop down from 6.5" pads to 6" which will be good for both the UDM and PC. I am curious how things will go with the UDM and PC on our site at the exact same price! LOL.

I really like the LC pads from CMA. I had one issue that the velcro came off and they replaced very quickly. Haven't had an single problem since.

I have found that the 5" CCS LC pads from danase are light years above the edge system on my pc for AIO and very light correction. Simply, I can't stand edge on my PC (love them on rotary), and I LOOOVE the 5" CCS. I can't even imagine how great they would be on the UDM. Theyre relatively cheap and durable as well. Woot for 5" CCS!

What LC pads are you talking about? I have had 4 white CCS pads from them and all came apart after soaking in a bucket of snappy clean for 10 mins... I take them, rub them, they come apart...
