Layering Klasse SG...

I applied my first layer of Klasse SG this morning. True to its nature it is difficult to get the last bit of haze off that you can only see under the halogens.

Is it ok to use quick detailer to get that last bit of haze off before I let it cure for 24 hours? I am using ClearKote QS. If I use the QD, will it in anyway diminish the layer of SG that I just applied...... OR..... should I let it cure for 24 hours, buff the haze off with the QD, then start the next layer???

Thanks for any help,

DW

Thanks for the advice. Since I am doing it all by hand my arm can only take so much. The QD helps a lot. I'm only good for one layer a day, so the SG usually gets 24 hours....

I put two layers on back to back today with no problems. It came off easy both times. I let it sit up for about 30 minutes for the first layer and about 25 for the second.

I have never heard of SG coming off easy...Love the look and the durability, but the application is rather rough.

:D Well, when I say easy, I mean Easy for SG. I dont consider it particularly hard to take off, but it definitely isnt as easy as say...Adams's Buttery wax or any of the PB's sealants. That said, I havent ever had a problem with SG. I take an MF applicator, dunk soak it with water, ring it out until it's just damp, then apply. I've done the WOWO method and I've let it sit for 30 minutes, and never had a problem. I acually used it on a detail that I did today. I really like SG.

I had use it and done it by hand, at first it was hard to get off then i realize that i was using the wrong MF (some cheap one) to take it off. I than use a MF from DavidB and it was much more easy to buff off. Great look and shine .

Heh heh, OK now you have heard it: I generally find SG comes off quite easily. Not effortlessly, but easily. FWIW, I use a dry foam applicator (nothing on it but the SG) and I apply so thin I can't see it on the paint (*much* less than an ounce for the minivan).

I always wonder if my "let it cure before buffing it off" has anything to do with this  When I experimented with goofy-thick applications, it seemed that the longer I waited to buff it off (up to a few days), the easier it come off.

So...

I'd just let it cure before you bother buffing it off. It will cure just fine even if you don't remove the excess first. If you're gonna use a QD to help with the haze (I just fog it with my breath instead) I'd be even more inclined to wait.

God, if you ever tried FMJ or Blackfire Sealant, you would not know what to do with yourself. They are not even like wiping anything off. You can practically blow them off.

why i like Klasse AIO/SG: i'm somewhat a newbie (although i've been researching topics for the past 6 months) and i like the fact that there are only two products that i have to deal with. i am absolutely dizzied by the grazzilion threads on here (all acronym based) that argue which number or which version of each product one is supposed to use and where in the detail process it is supposed to be used......there are clarification emails to clarify original clarification emails...so funny! i'm trying hard to stick with Klasse for the time being, lets see how long i last!

The results on my silver Tacoma are amazing with the Klasse SG. Well worth the extra effort to take it off. I'm sure I always apply too much in the first place. Todays layer is the last before I top it with S100. I'm good for another 6 months.

having said that, and after reading for 2 hours, i'm going to try the JW lineup!

I've never tried FMJ, but I used BF (both versions) until I switched to UPP (I've used versions 2 and 3 of that), which also comes off easily. Been using these on the S8 since '01 ;)

FMJ is the easiest product I have ever had to buff off. You really switched from BF to UPP? I did the exact opposite.
