Layering carnauba...advice needed.

When you apply repeated coats of carnauba with the intent to layer it, do you apply the successive coats with your regular amount of applicator pressure (I use foam), or, try to almost dab it on, in an attempt to leave as much of the base coat intact as possible? Wondering if carnauba layers well regardless, as long as the prior coats are cured, of course. TIA.

You kind of reapply the product to the paint every time you attempt to layer. More oils are added each time, giving a gloss increase, but durability will remain the same..........

I agree with DK. Carnauba, or any wax for that matter, does not "cure" at all. Successive applications simply add more oils for an increased shine, but do not necessarily "layer" on top of each other for increased protection. It's the solvents.

Thanks for the answers. Truthfully, I never thought wax would layer noticeably, but I've heard the topic discussed before, so I thought, maybe it does to a certain degree. Taken from the Proper Auto Care pamphlet, under Concours Tips - "Procedure for layering wax: After polishing, wipe on and buff the first layer of Souveran. Allow this layer to cure for 12 to 48 hours. Follow with a second coating. Note: The first coat must have time to cure. Applying a second coat immediately will not produce the same results."

They must know something. Anyway, just FYI.
