I have been detailing cars for many years by hand, just recently started using a pc orbital bc my friend has one, and I just ordered a Flex 3401 for myself :woot2: :woot2: along with all the pads and goodies to go along with it. I have always used Meguiars products, mostly the prof mirror glaze line and top off with #16 paste or nxt tech more recently. About a year ago I purchased a 2007 dodge charger SRT-8 and came across zaino via chargerforums, and i have fell in love with it ever since. Now, upon joining up autopia, I did a lot of reading and noticed that most use the menzerna polishes, and I really want to try them. But, a few questions i have regarding the menzerna.
1) I am not convinced by the FMJ and would like to use zaino (by hand of course) on top of the menzerna polishes. Being that they are both chemical based is it a problem, or has anyone had a problem, applying overtop with a different product? what do you guys use on top of the menzerna polishes that gives you the best shine and durability?
2) What speeds to you keep your pc (or flex, i will learn the speeds once it arrives) on for the different polishes (SIP, FPII, Glaze, FMJ)? When using the meguiars compounds, cleaners, swirl removers, etc. i would start out at around 3.5 working up to 5. Same idea or should i be using higher speed bc its a "polish" with microabrasives?
3) I know that it is pretty much impossible to burn thru clear coat/paint with the pc, but how about the flex? I know it is more powerful, but still not a rotary....
Thanks for your advice guys!
