Latest Detail vs. Volvo truck!

GlossyTundra

Tractor Detailer
Yeah, Volvo transfer truck. 2001 Volvo day cab tractor. Has about 220,000miles on it, the guy bought it from a local enzymes company, he uses it to haul chickens to the local market. Problem with that is b/c of national security, the trucks are required to be sprayed down with a disinfectant after leaving, so the trucks are always stained with the yellow stuff.

My Process was

Took me about 2.5hrs do hit this one out of the ball-park.

Thanks for looking!

wow awesome detail! How many GALLONS of tire shine did you go though. :P I am guessing thats at least 4 bottles of ColourX?

Good job! Do you feel that the ColorX was able to remove any swirls at speed 6 on the PC? I have it and use it as a paint cleaner, but I've never really experimented with the swirl removal ability.

Ehh, there werent many swirls on this truck, it never gets washed. It did clean the paint very very nicely, I was impressed. I actually tried Poli-seal, color-x whipped it in cleaning and finishing ability.

well i gotta say this is impressive, i did our tow truck at work and all i can see is even with a rotary it took me 2 8hr days lol....

i used 3m compound then 3m polish then some automagic banana wax on mine applied by hand...truck still shines im very surprised but good job..how much did u charge? i did the roof as well, its about the same size truck.

I charged $125 for this job, although it should have been about $175. It was my cousin, so I wanted to cut him a deal.

I always look at big trucks on the road and think "wow, wonder what it would be like to detail that sucker" and now I know, living vicariously through you! :)

Wow, that's a lot of paint to cover! And to think people gripe about doing SUVs. At least it wasn't black! :chuckle:

nice job.

i keep thinking of tackling my father in laws peterbilt - it's an 03 - silver with black fenders, and i dont think it's EVER been detailed. i'm not sure i'd even want to tackle something like that though.

wow nice job man, i cant believe you did all that in under 3 hours! Do trucks have brake dust or do they have a different type of brake? I bet with 220000 miles you would have some seriously nasty rims!

Like I said, the rims and lower half of the truck had chicken disinfectant, but no brake dust. Big rigs have drum brakes, they wont produce brake dust.
