Hello everybody!! I just found this board the other day and have enjoyed greatly reading everything. I just thought I would post up some pictures from the last time I detailed my car which was about a month ago. The weather went to crap after the Red Sox were bumped out of the playoffs. Anyway, here's the process FYI:

1) Wash with Zymol Clear
2) Wheels cleaned with Zymol Wheel Brite
3) Clay with Zymol Lehm-Clay and Mother's Showtime for lube
4) Pre-clean with Zymol HD-Cleanse
5) Zymol Vintage x 2
6) Tires coated with Megs Endurance Tire Gel (high gloss version)

All done by hand.

NIce Car and I love the shots!! I really am diggin the pic of the bumper, very liquid. Can you tell me a little about zymol vintage?

Greg

Zymol Vintage . . . hmmm. What can I say? It makes every paint I put it on look even wetter. If applied properly it lasts at least a month. I say this as most people apply it wrong. You shouldn't let it set for more than a minute otherwise it ends up in your buffing towel and not on your paint. I know this is counter-intuitive, but trust me. I save tons of money on applicators and buffer pads, because it is applied literally by hand. It smells really great and I get a nice even coat so I don't mind using my hands.

Let's see what else is there . . . it's easy on and easy off. Again this is if applied properly and buffed off with a Zymol microwipe. I don't know what it is about the Microwipe. It's just better for buffing the wax off. Last but not least, you can get it "on the cheap" if you buy it as part of the Pebble Beach sampler.

Let me know if I missed anything you want to know.

zymol vintage, i saw the price for that wax and its close to 1500 dollars.. i have a question for you, have you used other products like klasse, zaino , upp etc. what was the main difference u noted between that and zymol
thanks

Yes, Zymol Vintage is $1500 for the 22oz. size with lifetime free refills. I however, bought the Pebble Beach Sampler which contains a small bottle of clear, small HD-Cleanse, 1 microwipe, 1 detail brush, 4 oz. Vintage, 4 oz. Destiny, and 4 oz. Atlantique. All this for the low, low price of $170.

I haven't tried the products you mentioned, but I have tried all the Megs Professional line, Mothers, 3M, Liquid Glass, Eagle One, Sovereign, and likely some others that I don't remember. I've also tried Zymol Concours. All were shattered by the results I get with Vinatge. Basically, the paint gets ultra smooth (of course proper prep is required for the best results) and the paint looks extremely wet with a deep shine.

I do have the entire Menzerna line including FMJ and a tub of P21S en route to my house to try those out. Also, I refuse to try Zaino for two reasons. One, the fanatical following of most Zaino users. Two, some of the bad/misleading advice on detailing given out on their website. They recommend washing with Dawn. A bad idea IMHO that will result in dried out exterior rubber and plastic. BTW they also claim their clay is non-abrasive. Sure . . . well then is it OK if I run some of their clay across the hood of Mr. Zaino's favorite car without lube?
