Lamborghini Huracan Performante Nurburgring record

Damn!!! Impressive!!!

Now we gotta hope that they can get the Viper ACR around the ring too, because that DEFINITELY has a chance to be right there with the Huracan

Good point on tires. Impressive no matter what tires, but if they are not street tires, the Huracan`s time would be very misleading.

Tires are everything, you would be amazed at home much of a jump in performance non-legal race spec tires (Not even slicks) can impact lap times, it`s insane (Seriously).

Also note, if the performante is to the hurican as the sesto elemento is to the gallardo (Lp) then it`s no suprise and I`m sure the price reflects it as well.

This lap time was truly on another planet!

The new ALA active aero is revolutionary for a road-going car - it kind of makes the flappy body panels of the Pagani Huayra look clumsy, and ham-fisted.

To have beaten the 918 by a full five seconds, with 250hp less, is absolutely CRAZY.

I have confirmed that the lap was done on Pirelli Corsas - NOT the Trofeo R tires (which are basically race tires)- they are custom-designed Corsas - designed especially for the Performante, and have a dual-compound tread, and will be exactly the tires that the Performante will ship with from the factory! (Many, many sports cars will have tires with treads designed specifically for that car - even sports cars that aren`t "exotics"). I believe the new Michelin PS4s have a similar dual-compound tread. It`s about time Pirelli updated their tires. Truly, the Corsas as of late have been less than wonderful....

If you want a real laugh, go to McLarenlife.com - they are whining like crazy about how there is no way that the Performante laid down a time of 6:52. Funny, how neither McLaren nor Ferrari will bring their own cars to the `Ring. I love how Lamborghini will put its money where its mouth is.

The Performante is GORGEOUS in person. (Lamborghini has had several private showings...). That it backs up its looks with stellar performance, is nothing short of remarkable.

I agree with the Viper postulation though. I think it really does have a great chance of being right there with the Performante. its only potential limiting factor, is that the aero is fixed, and that MASSIVE rear wing creates so much drag that it is limited on the long straights. The stock Viper is actually faster in a straight line than the ACR because of this. Also, the 918 is somewhat hampered, in that if they were to go absolutely balls-out for an entire lap on the `Ring, the battery would be depleted. I have read that the driver could not exceed 280kph as a result, thus enabling him to retain some juice in the battery system. This is my big criticism of hybrid systems - unless the system is truly regenerative (I think the McLaren P1 is such a system), then lap after lap, you`re losing power.

The Performante is 38 seconds faster around the `Ring than the regular Huracan..... that is bonkers!!!

I`ll take your "slower" Huracan off your hands:) Thanks for the added info. Can`t wait to see more photos of the Performante.

True, but the `ring doesn`t have a ton of straights, its mainly about cornering speed. And, on Laguna Seca(a much shorter track), the ACR is a whole second faster than the 918

I cannot wait for the PS4S! They will be going on my ride ASAP!

Hahaha - my bank manager might have issues with me giving "my" car away.... LOL!!!!

You will love the car - it`s even better in real life - it`s all in the details. For those that like the forged carbon, especially. I wasn`t sold on the stuff at first, but now I really do like it!

This is true. I SO want the Viper guys to get the new ACR back to the `Ring to see what they can do. They have a gofundme type of thing going to try and get it there - I hope they succeed.

ME TOO. I absolutely loved the SuperSports - as soon as the P Zeros wore down on my last car (they were abysmal - they literally chunked from the shoulders of the tires, and I was nowhere near balls out!), I switched to the SuperSports. What a revelation. Better all around, and cheaper - that`s a win! The PS4s look SO promising. Should be good ;)

Me too lol. I haven`t checked it in a few days but they seemed to get stuck around $80k when they need something like $150k.

The Viper deserves one last hurrah to shut out any doubt that it`s an absolutely amazing car

Uh oh. Lamborghini - BUSTED. Here is a video with proof:

LOL. Too many conspiracy theorists out there, wearing their tinfoil hats!

ViperGuy - I, too, really want to see what the ACR can do. It would be a fitting end to a true icon. We may never see craziness like the Viper, again. Do you have a link to their fund raiser thing? I`d contribute to see that happen!

Never knew how much it cost to lap Nurburgring. Granted the manufacturers probably pay to close the track, but I would definitely pay 25 euros to lap the ring.

Nurburgring prices and costs

Don`t crash though, that is when costs get very real. Check out the above link.

Thanks for posting that link! Lapping the `Ring is on my bucket list - I would love to take a trip to Europe - run the `Ring, Stelvio Pass (and a few others), and experience the Autobahn, as well as visiting the Ferrari/Lambo/Porsche museums, and take in the BMW Welt.

A buddy of mine rented a race-spec Audi TT for the `Ring, and went at it for almost a full day. He spent hours upon hours learning the corners on Gran Turismo, on Play Station - obviously, he didn`t just show up to the `Ring and run stellar times because of it, but he did say it enabled him to at least run it, knowing what was coming up, and approximately how to tackle each corner. Even learning it on Playstation is no laughing matter.

Holy crap - yeah, you definitely do NOT want to crash there - that could get a bit "spendy", as the Top Gear/Grant Tour guys say, hahaha.

Thanks!
