Lake Country pads

I have a PC 7424 with Lake Country variable contact pads. I have used the white polishing pad on three cars and now the velcro is not sticking to the pad like it used to. The pad will stick to the backing plate but will peel off very easily. When the pad was new, it took some effort for the pad to come off the backing plate. I'm worried that the pad might unstick itself when I'm polishing at a rate of 6 on the PC. Is this normal?

That is exactly what I have and what happened to me. The pad would not stick to the backing plate, and yes it will come loose and fly off. I contacted the manufacturer and they told me that these pads are not designed for the PC. Note designed.
The pads designed for the PC are the flat pads http://www.lakecountrymfg.com/foampads_dafoam.html.
You might consider the flat LC pads or new Edge DA pads.

What size are the pads? What size backing plate are you using?

That is exactly what happened to me too!!!

I'm using E2K pads now and much happier.

I've never had a problem with any Lake Country Pads. I've even tossed the in the washing machine without problems.

Scott P,

What are you using them on (PC or Rotary)? If you are using a PC, how fast can you operate with them?

Thanks.

I use the Lake Country Curved Edge Variable contact pads on my PC at speeds from 4-6. I have the LC tufted pads for my rotary.

I've been regularly using LC pads for a couple years with no problems. I use them on the PC at speeds from 2 to 6, hand wash, and air dry. I have the 7.5" curved edge and 6" variable contact models in 3 different textures.

The Edge makes very nice pads. I use the 6.5" Durafoam DA and E2K DA pads. With the revised adapter, the E2K DA pads are a joy to use. Edge also has a larger variety of texture choices. The E2K models are double sided and can even be made with two different textures on a single pad.

Just a thought, could the backing plate be the source of your problems rather than the pads? :dunno I have heard of instances where the plate's velcro had worn out. I use an Auto-Quip 6" backing plate.

I have the 6" backing plate that came with the PC from coastaltools.com. The pads are 7.5". I might have to check out the Edge pads or Meguiar's pads when order more supply.

Found the source of the problem guys. I stuck a brand new pad on the PC and the pad still won't stick. Darn backing plate, I thought they were suppose to be durable. I'm going to call coastaltool today and see if they will replace the backing plate since I believe I'm still under warranty.

I have them. I think they are safer than a regular pad when used with a rotary. I tried them with my Makita and they work fine. The holograms I had were due more to inexperience than the pads themselves.
