Deep scratch guy.
Howdy ya,

Quick question: This for peoples like me dont have a indoor garage and park your car outside. Okay, I just apply the SG on my car, according in the instruction, it need 24hrs to bake in :( What if you park your car(like me) outside on the driveway? Now, with-in 24hr period of time, you probably get tons of dust and debris on your car and that can scratch the crap of your car, if you try to wipe it down with a MF towel.....no?? So to make long story short, has any one done this(outside method)

thanks

ken

Thanks for the reply, Paul.

Those little dust(construction next door) wont hurt my paint? Man, it feel like a 800 grit sand paper. I dont know man, maybe I shouuld hose it down, this way I know for sure the dust it's out from my car, but I dont know if SG will still intacted after the wash down.

klnyc- I can't quite tell from your post why you're gonna be touching the car with a MF. But yeah, you're right about how the stuff that settles on the paint will cause scratches.

If you put the SG on and let it sit overnight, you might want to *not* do it that way in the future. Rather, wipe it off before stuff has a chance to settle on the vehicle.

If you're gonna do any touching of the car (like adding more SG or buffing off the previous application) then I'd wash it. Regular, careful wash. It won't compromise your KSG; I layer mine by adding a coat after each wash.

Yeah, I wanted to test it out for over nighting crap. I have the PC 7424 with LC and Sonus pads, so stay hard dont bother me much. Anyway, thanks for tips(WOWO).

Dang, why SG, needed to wait for 24hr to cure? I dont recalled, I read some where in this forum where a guy done a test between a 24hr vs 2 hr wait. Let me search it more.

You guys leave SG on overnight? Is difficult to remove?

Yes. No.

In my experience, the longer you wait the *easier* it is to remove. I even left some on for several days; it wiped right off with no problems. Worked fine with pretty thick appliations too, the kind people usually have trouble with.

In my experience, SG wipes off very easily if you use WOWO, or if you wait several hours. The length of time required for waiting is dependent on the present humidity, with drier air requiring less time to dry.

The major drawback (if you want to call it that) of SG is that if you are between WOWO and FULLY DRY, then getting the SG off can be a real chore.

In between WOWO and Dry is the 'tacky' zone, where the SG has the consistency of left over sticker adhesive. This is where most people who curse SG have attempted to remove it.

After a couple of years of experience, and learning from several helpful contributors here, I've found that if you DO need to wipe the SG off while in the tacky zone, you can do the following:

1) Use Sonus Acrylic Spritz - one spritz on each panel will make removal of the tacky SG effortless

2) Take your SG applicator, apply a little SG to the applicator, reapply SG to the panel, and then wipe the panel immediately (modified version of WOWO)

By understanding the behavior of the SG, and by having tools in your arsenal to overcome the 'problems' of SG, you will get the great results . . . without the headaches that many have encountered.

Personally, I LOVE the appearance of the SG on both the wifes metallic burgandy Passat and my Black Benz. The appearance is deep, and the shine is awesome.

Have fun SG'ing your car, and then enjoy your results!
