Klasse SG question

As you know up here in the *Great White North* its winter and because of it I'm restricted to product evaluation inside the house.

One of the fellow Autopians was nice enough to send me a small sample of AIO & SG and I have since bought both.

I tried it out on a few things around the house including my appliances and also on a set of cleared Al. wheels I have for the car.

The wheels I have AIO x 2 ( coverage) and SG x 3. All done the Wipe on wipe off method. Very good results and not much effort. Shop temp is +/- 68 F ( 20 C for you Canuckbians).

The last couple of days it has got up to a balmy 40 F ( 5 C ) so I did the following ( Now don't flame me I know the proceedure ).

The car has had nothing applied to it since I topped the Zaino a couple months back with Glanz.

In the shop the SG removal was easy .. Outside even tho I did 1/2 the hood and the first part hazed over right away I went back and using a MF I wiped it off. Well poop .. you would think I left it on 3 hours. It was a b*tch to get off. The next day .. same thing. A spritz of Sonus did help but I am out to lunch on the use of a QD or water during the crosslinking cure time.

Here is my question, was this because I didn't use AIO and the SG reacted with what was on the hood .. or was it the temp?

A couple of weeks ago I did the AIO /Sg on the trunk lid and it was even colder and didn't seem to have this problem?

Like I say ..don't go flaming me .. I knew what I was doing .. and I was curious of the result. And keep in mind all the SG bottle says about AIO is to use it if the paint is oxidized, which mine isn't.

My experience with SG at 45 degrees has been good. What was on the hood? If not AIO or SG that most likely was the problem unless there was excessive moisture. Was the car just washed prior to the SG application? Did you take the car from a warm garage to outside. This could have caused condensation that is very hard to see. I know from experience that the surface must be very dry prior to appling SG to make it easy to wipe off.

Hope this helps.

With the WOO method, I never do 1/2 hood at one time, it dries before you start to wipe off, and then your troubles begin. A small section at the time works best.

If I were to guess I'd say that maybe you applied it thin enough for it do partially dry out (similar to JGV's post) and that you were stuck in the "hard to remove" phase, where it's too late for WOO, but too early for traditional buffing.
