Klasse SG over AIO wait time

Getting ready to use the Klasse twins for the first time and was wondering if you have to wait before putting SG over AIO. I know from other articles I've read that it is recommended that you wait a minimum of 24 hours before layering SG on top of itself but wasn't sure if the same applies when putting SG on top of AIO. Also have some Polycharger I'm going to try with it. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated

you can put SG over AIO immediately, you just have to wait 24 hours before putting on the next coat of SG.

That's been my experience. I actually dont even wait the 24 hours. I did 3 coats of SG one right after the other last time I applied it with no problems. I was actually convinced I could see a difference, as was my dad (it was his car). Whether I could or I couldn't...I think I did, but it might have just been me trying to justify the extra work. :D

In studies on my hood and a few other surfaces, I found no difference in shine or life when I applied back to back or spaced out over 24 hours.

Interestingly, I also found very little difference between many layers and just a few.

Your posts are the reason that I said to hell with the 24 hour thing. I think I can really notice a difference in the look as well. How many layers did you find to be the best number for you?

Here is another opinion from Bob Faragasso, President of Klasse USA.

Q. Should you wait between applying multiple coats of HGSG?

A. The first coat of HGSG can be applied immediately over a base coat of All-In-One. After that, it's best to wait 8 to 12 hours between coats of HGSG. We have customers with show cars (not daily drivers) that will wipe on a coat of HGSG one day, buff it off the next day and immediately apply another coat. They'll do this every day for a month, literally putting on 30 coats of HGSG over a 30 day period. This sounds crazy but I've seen some of these cars and they're absolutely breathtaking!

Entire interview can be found here...Interview with Klasse USA

After applying a coat of SG how long do you have to wait before you can top that with a carnuba?

Sorry for the partial hijack...

LOL. Sounds like a good way for a company to try to sell more product. :chuckle:

When I was doing the tests on the hood of the truck I was working in small taped off areas. As a result, I got good consistent and uniform coverage, even with one layer.

When I'm trying to smear it all over the car, I don't get the same consistency of coverage. I seem to need 2-4 layers to get it all uniform and looking good.

On the test areas, as I recall, I really couldn't see a difference between 1 layer and whatever I went up to (20? 30?). As a caviat to that, I am not an autopian fanatic. So it's entirely plausable that I'm not noticing or appreciating differences that members might.

The Autopia Klasse tuturial says to allow 30 mins between applications of SG. 20 with your PC. :waxing:

I started using the SG last spring. I planned to do another layer, but waiting 24 hours is no good. I have to condense my routine to a single day or face that wrath of the wife. I will try the tutorial recommendation this time.

Sounds worse then my situation... 1 day to detail or the wrath of pollen and mother nature. But we all know the wrath of the wife is WAY worse! :nervous2:

davis, im not sure you would want to put a carnauba over an acrylic glaze? has anyone done this, what does it look like??

A *lot* of people do this and in my experience it does add a bit of depth. But I'd rather be able to keep adding more SG.

I have the same problem. :lol

So about a week later, after the next wash, I threw on another coat. Maybe not ideal, but it is deeper and wetter than after 1 coat. I'm about to wash again and I think I'm going to try my 1:3 SG to water QD I cooked up, it will be sort of like a third coat.

yeah ive tried nuba over it and liked the look...trouble is you cant go back and add more SG so i just keep adding SG now:brit

Yeah, the added hassle of having to go back to square-one *FAR* outweighed any benefit from the topper, but then I take a pretty functional view of this stuff, at least with regard to the vehicle I use Klasse on.
