Keyless Systems - The Pinnacle of Stupidity

Obnoxious, yes.....but he's spot on. Just an unnecessary ungodly expensive system that will eventually break. The trivial benefit in no way comes close to the drawback of the system

There is no doubt some cool features on some of these new cars. But I think a lot of people forget that some of these things are gonna break. And its gonna be ridiculously expensive to fix. How about no dipsticks on some cars. What if those sensors goes bad. Is it easy to fix? I dont know? 10 speed transmissions? The list goes on.....I guess if it breaks just get a new car. Soon only dealerships are going to be able to work on vehicles. Thats what they want anyway. There goes the little man.....

The Wax Encrusted Stingray Logo at the start of the video makes me really dislike this guy and makes me very suspicious of his every word

Old saying: "Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should". I'm afraid we're going to learn that about a lot of computerized stuff soon.

Navigation systems are stupid because they're expensive to replace.

Heated seats too.

Power locks? RIDICULOUS. I can just use a physical lever to lock and unlock.

Digital clock. NO THANK YOU.

The nice thing is, even if all those things you mentioned failed, you could still drive the car just fine. A system like what was mentioned in the o.p......not so much

Scotty might be a great tech but Scotty's no detailer. His applicator and towel were scary. Truth is he's doing exactly what most people who claim to "take care" of there cars do. These people are keeping all you Pros in business. ;)

Very true. I still like watching his videos for his technician skills. Especially like with this key video, the Prius A/C Leak video and the Mercedes video. I would have never thought about how much could go wrong with those and the associated costs.

I love my keyless entry and I can't imagine buying another car without it. At least for my car (accord) you first get a warning on the dash when your remote has a low battery. Even if you kill the remote battery completely, you can hold the remote close to the push button and still start the car (using the physical key to open the door).

Best part? I have no scratches on my door, or on the steering column from dangling keys =) The only downside is that my wife can't store her purse in the trunk since her remote will cause the trunk to reopen.
