Kevin Brown method and ONR mist?

Dear fellow detailers,

Please note that:

1) I'm not pretending this will improve the KB method

2) I'm not a pro

This is a simple question. While testing the KB method, after the typical 3-drops + pressure step, I found that spraying a tiny bit of diluted ONR on the panel to keep working it without pressure improved the finish, reduced the micro-marring and dust.

Am I hallucinating? Has anybody tried this? Would simple water give the exact same behavior or if the ONR lubricant gives a little plus?

Thanks

I am certainly no pro, and only have my basic experience with trying KBM. That said, the issues you described (micromarring and dusting) I also experienced but I found that priming the pad helped a LOT.

I realize this doesn't answer your question, but the solution for me was to prime correctly. This link helped me a lot:

Well I know one thing, pre washing a car with certain products that add wax or polymers can make it harder to correct the paint, that is why it is important to strip all of the wax or sealants off of the surfaces before the correction. So If you are spritzing ONR on the surface, I would think its adding polymers to it? I'm not 100% sure of that and I guess it depends on how much you dilute it. but have you tried just a spritz of water? I am interested in seeing what some of the other pro's have to say about this?

Sounds like you might be overworking the product. I've found that water will not only prematurely deteriorate your pads, but will reduce cutting power of M105 via DA/foam. It's probably rewetting the clumped up product and allowing it to knock down the micromarring produced by overworking the product. If you're doing a finishing step afterwards(which you should be), worry about it then. How are you cleaning your pads?

I do this as well. I've got a diluted spray bottle of ONR that I use for a clay lube and lightly mist the pad. I'll usually do this when the polish starts to get very translucent on the paint and/or look as though the polish has been removed from the surface. On second thought, maybe I'm working 105 too long?
