Just when you thought you've found every use for AIO.....

Gibson SG (for sale), Cheapo Ibanez RGX45, Ibanez Acoustic, Peavey Special 212, Vox Pathfinder POS, Digitech RP300, few other pedals, etc.

Got another guitar arriving Thursday.....and a Line6 GuitarPort coming tomorrow :)

Funny to come across this thread I was just thinking of trying some scratchX and DC#2 to my black Epiphone Les Paul custom.

uh oh. I see a guitar detailing thread in the making. :D My Strat has color X and Nattys on it right now, which I plan on refreshing when I change the strings, and the battery (it has EMG's).

i go for the stevie ray vaughan loook on my guitars so they see no care at all. We really do need a guitar thread.. my gear is as follows:

Fender american strat
fender deville 212 tube amp
ibanez tube screamer ts9
vintage dunlop crybaby
voodoo labs sparkle drive
martin dc1e acoustic/electric
fender dg8 acoustic
washburn bass
samick stratocaster
vintage peavey

Awesome....how do you like the Deville 212?

Way2SSlow - Ordered an Agile TC-630. People have been raving about them for quite some time, and they're cheap as hell, so I figured I'd give it a shot and see how it is. It'll be here tomorrow.

Supposedly up there with the American Fender Tele's...

I like the deville 212 but I am looking for some mods that iwll give me a less muddy sound. In a few years I might get ird of it and get a super reverb reissue.

Gotcha...I'm looking to get rid of my Peavey for a small tube amp (1x12 most likely). Any recommendations?

Matt,

On the small tube amp....what kind of music do you play? You can pick up a Fender Blues Jr. for a decent price and those things sound nice. I really liked the clean tone. It didnt really seem to like getting dirty much, but the clean was able to make me look past it. For a small amp, that may be your ticket.

I have a Peavey Transtube practice amp which is what I play in my bedroom. If I want to use Headphones, I will use my Line 6 Pod. I've got Pro Tools that I record with and the POD is pretty cool. The models arent all dead on, but I have gotten plenty of useable tone out of it. My big boy is an 85 Marshall JCM 800 head with a 4x12 1960A slant cab. I love that amp, but because it is so loud, I dont get to really play it like it should be played very often. Not doing the band thing at the moment.

I've got an American standard strat. It's a 96 model limited edition. Lake placid blue with a matching headstock. I put some EMGs in it and it can really do anything I want it to now. I've got a tapped humbucker in the bridge and two singles in the neck and middle positions. My big thing was that I wanted it to sound "stratty" with out the noise that comes from the stock single coils, but have the balls to tune down and jam out with some nasty hard stuff. I've got a cheap-o Korean guitar that I got when I was like 14 just to see if I wanted to play guitar, and I've got a cheap Fender P bass that I picked up just for when I write stuff and record it. I've got a slew of pedals...mostly Boss, but I have that Mesa Boogie V-Twin pedal as well. I still haven't quite found the right stompbox for heavier rock distortion....I think that might be like the quest for the perfect shine. I've also got a CF Martin acoustic that I picked up a few years back. It's the MTV unplugged ones. I must have played 15 guitars on the wall that day, and the MTV-1 was the nicest that I strummed.

Wow....get me talking about music or gear and I never shut up! :D

I was looking today at trading my deville 212 for a used fender 65 twin Reissue. Im big into stevie ray vaughan and derek trucks ala allman brothers. I know the twin is mega clean but i think I can get some growl if I click on the ts9. Any thoughts?

Greg

Greg,

the TS9 is a cool pedal. I haven't played a lot of the new fender stuff. I have played a Deville though, and I thought it was a very nice amp. Usually when I try out guitars, I always plug into a Marshall. I've always been a Marshall guy (I think the new ones get a bad wrap from the classic Marshall guys....I like both). I dont think you can go wrong with any Fender tube amp. I've read (doesnt make it true) that Kenny Wayne takes out the speakers in his Fenders and puts an EV speaker in there. I think it's crazy to go after Stevie's sound.....it was just THAT good. I love his sound, but I dont chase it, because even if I got it....I'm not Stevie, and no one in the world can play as well with that sound as Stevie did. I never get sick of hearing Texas Flood or Sky is Crying. I've heard a lot of great blues guitarists and not one of them has absolutely floored me like the first time I heard Stevie Ray.

So true. I found a 65 reissue twin on ebay for 600 which is a steal! but im not ready to commit to seeling my amp as of right now. I might try to mod it a tad. It is just to muddy for me and the tubes break up way to soon.

Greg

i have it turned 4 out of 12 when i play with my band. Of course that means nothing becuase fender has the tricky volume pots. But all the devilles breakup rather quickly. I dont mine when it breaks up its just always to muddy of a breakup.;

I will take some pics this weekend at my gig. My luthier buddy built a hollow body tele. IT has a quilted maple top with f-hole. Flame maple neck with rosewood fingerboard. It is one buetifal guitar.
