Just tried the Tide/Oxiclean mixture!

After reading a post about cleaning floor mats with a mixture of Tide and Oxiclean I was motivated to wash my 6 year old floor mats.

I have a 1996 model car and have never shampooed the floor mats, just the regular vacuuming. The front mats were at one time caked in mud. I removed the mud by simply rubbing the carpets with a wet towel (Pre-Autopia!). One back mat had some motor oil stains in it. Another mat had a bunch of stains from sun tan lotion.

I put together a mixture of Tide/Oxiclean as directed in the post (1 scoop oxiclean, 1/2 lid of Tide, 32 oz of hot water). As I scrubbed the mixture in with a carpet brush the the dirt just came flying out. It was amazing! Dirt, mud, oil, it all came out.

I'm really amazed at how clean these 6 year old mats were when I finished. I may clean them again this coming weekend to get out anything that I didn't get the first time. I really wish I had a digi camera for before/after shots. The difference was quite breathtaking.

I definitely recommend this mixture for deep cleaning floor mats.
