Is there anything I should be careful of when using the 4" pads? Is there any better of a chance of damaging the clearcoat using, say, a 4" cutting pad with SSR2.5? That's about the most aggressive I'll ever get for trouble spots (damn cats on the hood).

Can't wait to try them out... they're really going to help me out around my license plate and spoiler on my GTO.

I just recently completed a detail using 4" cutting and polishing pads via rotary where my larger pads don't fit well/where I felt less comfortable with them. That's probably the most aggressive conditions you can use them under, so via PC or Cyclo, they ought to be just fine.

If your using a PC with the 4" pads, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just the other day I was using Optimum Compound with a yellow 4" pad and I still couldnt even get all the defects off a VW. Just be smart about it and you'll be fine.

just to add but not to hijack the thread have you Bill D or anyone that owns and used the 4in pads do they wear faster then 6.5 pads and how about washing them.....TIA

I seriously doubt you'll cause any damage with the 4" pads. It's no more aggressive than the 6.5" pads IMO. It allows you to use more pressure on the pad, but it doesn't spin any faster.

Occasionally I've have some rub against each other on the Cyclo, causing increased wear but the way clean them, and any size pads, is to squirt them with an APC, agitate with a brush, rinse thoroughly, and either spin them on the polisher and air dry, or put them in the dryer on medium heat.
