Just got a Flex L3403 VRG. Need help

I recently purchased a flex 3404 VRG. I previously just upgraded from a PC 1000.



I think I bit off more then I can chew, this is one powerful machine. I am really worried about burning or taking off my paint with this thing.



Even at the first setting, I think this thing spins way too fast.



Are there any videos online that shows how to use this machine correctly. I have never used a rotary before you think I should downgrade to a DA instead?



Should I go to the scrap yard and bring home a hood or panel and practice on that?



Any help articles (video preferred) would be appreciated.

Get an old panel and practice. When you do get ready to use your rotary...tape all seams and ridges. Just to give you confidence using the rotary...try burning the paint on the practice panel...you'll find that it is not easy to do. Burning usually occurs on the edges from tilting the buffer.
 
should I keep the machine on 1 the whole time? Even setting it at 2 spins 10x faster then my PC ever did.



I think I will get an old panel to play with, but the wife really isn't going to like that in the garage :argue
