Wow that was tireing. My neighbor is having a party. and she was sending over customers galore. i detailed 2 cars, and 2 vans tonight in the dark. it was terrible. dark and raining .lol.

Tongiht i have...

Washed and waxed 4 vehicles.

Cleaned interior on 3 vehicles

clayed 1 vehicle.

Too bad it was dark. i woulda liked to get photos. and i couldnt even see my results since i was working with poor light. well.. i got 105 dollars for 4 cars and 5 hours. not bad for a nights work.

total. i have really low rates. for a wash wax int. i charge between 20-30 bucks based on size. nobody takes a 16 year old detailer seriously so i have to have low rates, but as i get better known i will slowly up them. i dont see charging 100 bucks each when i use 15 dollars in product on each vehicle. and i use their water, and their yard.:nixweiss

35 bucks for a full detail including clay.

I hope that "1" in front of $105 was a typo...:)

Wow, your really giving them a really good deal. I would consider it stealing from you...:D I think you have to price yourself accordingly to what other detailers charge in your area. Because your starting out maybe this will help get referrals but don't keep the prices deflated too much longer. You also have to make a living too.

the only other detailers charge like. 75 for a full detail. so i have to compete and give a reason for people to do it with me, instead of taking it it. i advertise as. INTRODUCTORY OFFER. so i can change price come spring. When i get a job elsewhere. this will just be money on the side. i am trying for a job at a detailing place though

yea, but i cant. lol. i probably get another 60$ 2morrow cos im working too. but my truck is having engine problems. It is misfiring and ive already replaced the spark plugs and wires. so i will have to take it in to see what is left to do. :-/ but anything left goes to my light fund

And your thighs and Gluteus Maximus will be sore in the next day or two...:D Been there done that.

Roderigo.....

i'm willing to say that you did a better job than the guy you mention who charges 75 beans!!!!!!!!

keep the faith!!!!!

never short yourself!!!!!!!

PS.... DRINK PLENTY OF WATER !!!!!!

PEACE

A 16 year old that is willing to work 5 hours for a little over $100.00? Holy smokes, most 16 year olds I know (I have a daughter about your age) wouldn't work half that amount of time for twice the money. My hat is off to you, sir!

I understand your philosophy of really low rates to get business started. How many of these folks will come back a second or third time when you raise your rates to something reasonable? Just don't give your talent away too cheaply.

That said, again, hats off to you!

Bill

Are you that guy in the mens warehouse commericial, that

says over and over .....my hats off to you...LOL

but hopefully not that dorky (although my kids would disagree).

Anyway, hats o......................... oh, nevermind.

(a/k/a Men's Warehouse spokesman wanna be)

yup. im feeling it today.. got a chance to see the cars this morning. they look great if i do say so myself. One small spot by the wheel well but a little QD took care of that.. Hats of to me! lol

Roderigo,

Your labor is worth more than that! You are giving customers a service that they cannot or will not do on their own. Please increase your prices. If your customers are happy with the work you did, ask them to refer other people but charge a bit more buddy. Your age is secondary- it's your work that counts. ;)

Your rates are really low. I don't even think my local hack shops are that cheap :D

But what about all the kids working minimum wage jobs? 5 hours of work for $6 is only $30

Roderigo, don't worry. When you get a reputation, raise your prices and get a good amount of business. You'll be able to clear the same amount of money in one Saturday that your friends are getting every 2 weeks on their paycheck.

When you go to price your jobs, try to keep 20-25 dollars an hour in mind plus the cost of your product. You don't tell the customer this amount, but keep it in the back of your mind as a guide.

This way you will not short change yourself and the customer is getting a good deal too.

I agree with billium, you might not see some of these customers again so giving them ultra low prices may not be necessary on your part.

Good luck with your truck repairs.

did anybody take notice that he detailed 4 cars in 5 hours (including a van and some interior work)??? come on, thats impossible if you are washing and waxing !

Roderigo- I am like yourself, young, and started when I was 18 or so. What kind of neighbor are you in? You are definately shorting yourself for what you are worth... Establish a customer base but you are charging too litlte and your customers will expect the same rates and same quality of work.

what i did when i started about 2 weeks ago. I put on my flyer. Introductory offer, prices are subject to change. So i can change my prices. im not going to jump from 30 to 60$ but i will up a little. i did the interior but all they wanted was spot vaccum, and wipe down the dash. these vehciles were already taken care of great interior wise. So it wasnt much work.

I dont care much about the prices. how many 16 year olds do u know who make 20$ an hour? really.. this is great.. i dont want to push it. and of i get solid customers who come back week after week. these are the kind of people who dont want to wax everyweek.. they would pay me 20 bucks just to wash and dress. That is a 45-60 minute job. I made less than this doing hard labor digging ditches for my moms friend over the summer. they needed ditches dug to install a sprinkler system.. and i was also digging out grass so they could make a flower bed. that was hard back breaking and i made like 10 bucks an hour.

I did this baby a week ago and got $105 for just a wash and interior clean.

Washed with standard vacuum and wipe down on the interior and cleaned the wheel wells and lower frame for $45.

Washed and cleaned the wheels and dressed the tires for $55.

I’m in the middle of the road for detailers in my neck of the woods. You definitely need to revise your pricing. Like others have said, once you do work for someone at a low price, it’s hard to do the next job for them and then ask more $ for the same work. I know, I have one of my original customers who still only gives me $20 to wash and vacuum, clean the wheels and dress the tires and do the glass inside and out on her car.
