Just clayed for first time!

With the Clay Magic kit I got from Autozone, I went ahead and clayed 2 cars today.

1st car: Paint felt rough, and after claying it felt like glass. Very nice! However, claying didn't remove the water spots like I had hoped.

After claying, I tried (in this order) Meguiar's Cleaner Wax, 3M IHG, and Klasse AIO in an attempt to get rid of the water spots. But they're still there. :(

2nd car: Clay didn't seem to do much for this car. :( The visual appearance of the paint before claying already looked pretty good, but the surface felt dull (non-glassy) to the touch in some areas. After claying those areas, the surface didn't feel any different.

One thing I noticed was that the clay didn't seem to be picking up anything, unlike with the 1st car where there'd be a brownish color to the clay after I clayed a section. I had gone over the area a few times, applying a little more pressure each time. Ah well...must be some other sort of paint problem that claying doesn't fix (oxidation?)

I like the Clay magic from Autozone myself, it works good after coming from the Mothers that seems to disintegrate as you use it. I had a similar problem with water spots last month that I have to say was the first time I can remember having them so difficult to remove. I tried all the solutions I've seen here over time and the only thing that actually removed them completely was 3M Fine Cut and a CMA yellow pad, it ended up coming out looking good in the end and it was just the hood, strange. Maybe the second car you clayed had fairly clean paint with regard to embedded contaminants, can you feel any? Try the baggie over your hand on a soapy hood\trunk and see how it feels.

I noticed the Clay Magic clay is Made in Japan. :up

The trouble water spots are also only on the hood for me. I'll give 3M Fine Cut a try. Thanks for the tip.:)
