Just bought Gilmour foam gun, question on soap

Thanks to a post I saw here yesterday, I bought a Gilmour foam gun from Amazon for $39.99 including free shipping. Will Chemical Guys - Citrus Wash & Gloss work well in foam gun. If so, what ratio of dilution should I use when pouring soap & water into the foam gun bottle. I will figure out the setting on the foam gun itself; however, I figured someone here already knows best how to setup bottle first. Thanks in advance.

Not sure about your question, but wanted to say thanks for sharing the how cheap it is there. I just picked up one myself. :D

I just tried mine this weekend, and let me tell you its so COOL! some cheap soap that I had around the house, about 3 - 4 oz in the container fill the rest with water and shake it up.

I put mine on max i think it was the d or e setting right before the plain water setting!

foam foam foam love it

I was on the fence about it myself until I saw the price. I figure it will have more uses than just washing the car when you don't want to completely soak something. I also have some cheap Turtle Wax soap which I bought as 1 gallon about 6 years back. This might a good way of finishing it (can't seem to get of it and I have tried really hard) and getting to know the foam gun at the same time. I bought it mostly for novelty reasons to have some fun. My son will a blast - literally.

I mix up my shampoo mix in a gallon jug and fill the foamgun from that. I use a weaker mix than a lot of people, just ~4-6 oz. of Griot's Car Wash per gallon.

I just bought the Foamaster II from Amazon, I get it today, that free trial of Amazon Prime is awesome, maybe I'll consider splitting a prime account 4 ways for $20 a year just for the free 2 day shipping. Anybody interested?

Anyway, anybody have recommendations using the cheap soaps found at Target or WalMart. I use Zaino products exclusively, so using the Z-7 car wash might be a little expensive to use on the foam gun. I was looking over the soaps sold at my local Target and Walmart and a lot of them have "carnuba added", so I assume I should avoid those since I use Zaino. The only ones that don't have the carnunba added labels were the Meguiars Deep Crystal Car Wash $4, Meguiars Gold Class $6, Armor All blue bottle $4.

Anybody try the "high foam" soaps. I was at Walmart and they have small bottles of turtle was that say "high foam", they claim they are concentrated.

Thanks

Just go with the Meg's.. I've been using that for years.. no problems.. of course now I'm getting more into detailing.. buffer etc on the way along with professional prods.. will still use the megs soap tho..

I messed up and bought the "1 setting" Glimour gun...I hope the "A" setting works properly. My first go with foam instead of using the PW and I already messed up!

The Eagle One, Meg's Gold Class and Duragloss give pretty good foam in the foam gun. I get the best with the DG, and GC is close behind. Eagle One isn't quite as good, but its cheaper.

They have the Foamaster (not the II) for the same price, a better deal.

this works really well with the foam gun, and it it's available at your local autozone for around $5...

EO makes some good products, I have used there tire and wheel cleaner its alright (found better sinse then) but it for sure gets the job done.

+1 for the car wash

I've used a few, only 3 noteworthy: TOTL BubbleBath, DP Extreme Foam, & Optimum Car Wash Consentrate. Here's the Optimum:

For this degree of foam (clings very well), I put 8 oz. OCWC and 24oz of water in the reservoir and set the ratio to 4oz. per gallon. I can do several cars before refilling the bottle.

I disagree, I think the Foamaster II is better than the regular one. The II isn't all plastic, the back part where the gun attaches to the quart bottle has brass quick disconnects. That would be where I would be worried about it being weak, if it was all plastic but it's not, it has brass where needed. The plastic top and dial, make it lighter, easier to read, and the valves don't stick from corrosion if you don't use it for awhile. There's an assumption that there being more brass would make the regular one better but I don't think there's a difference in performance or durability. It's not cheap plastic they are making out of. So if there's people deciding between the two, my vote is for the II.:spot

I broke down and ordered a Foamaster II also :woot2:.....I think I will try out my Duragloss and NXT soaps I have now before going out and buying some eagle 1.

I had the exact same question as the OP. Seeing as the specific question didn't get answered, I'll bump it up to the top.

With CWG, what ratio?
