Joyriide Detailed:Cherry VDuB

There is no cure!
2002 Volkswagen Jetta

Dings, dents, scraches, gashes, rids, swirling, etching, ect. You name it, it had it. Owner picked it up for a low price to have as a daily driver. With gas prices reaching 5 bucks a gallon, who can blame him. None the less, the owner still wanted it as presentable and close to perfect as possible. That itself made me look forward to this detail soo much more than any of the prior ones I've done, especially since I would have 2 full days to do what I wanted.

As you'll see, all horizontal surfaces were obviously used as a bench for bikers with lots of metal and chains. Amazes me the things people do to cars and figure they're doing nothing wrong. For most of the horizontal surfaces to get the way they were, some one must have constantly been dragging boxes or heavy object across the hood and trunk lid.

Something else to note was that the car was previously detailed when it went to auction. Interior had some slick masking dressing, engine was dirty but looked clean from a distance, and the paint was recently buffed as I could tell from looking at some of the more uncommon areas other detailers miss. Exterior trim around the bottom of the bumpers were either missing or burned by the previous detail (which explains why I didn't give too much attentionto them, since the owner plans on just replacing them). This is the trade standard here in Miami, so I'm glad I can give people the option of a Top Tier detail and come out the hero each and every time.

I really wish I was able to get the seats a better, but they got the best of me this time.

As you can see, some areas were just too bad to do anything about. No matter what anyone says, that requires a repaint

Your's truly, dirty and sweaty but very proud!

Oh my god was that a mild bone inside the car:eek:...how did you get to work on such a dirty car?

Nice paint work!:D

:bigups:bigups:bigups
Terrific turnaround.
From a beater to something to be proud of.

Do you think you would have tackled the paint correction with a PC?

I'm sure with a healthy combination of cutting pads and heavy compounds I could have probably gotten it done. I'm sure I would have easily spent an additional 3-4 hours though.

Joyriide1113,

Great job on the VDub! I take it you used the Brass Bristled Barbeque Brush to revive the carpet?

I used it to loosen up imbedded debris from the carpets. They were really matted and slick (like someone cleaned them but didn't extract the soap).

Great job on that car. Man that paint was thrashed & you brought it back to a respectable shine. :bigups

You sir are a detailing master! What an amazing job. Looking at the trunk I thought it was beyond saving but you did it!

Was it difficult removing and installing the front seats? That surely made it easier to clean the interior.

The red looks so shiny and wet after you finished. :bigups
