JetSeal Vs Collinite - Long Term Test - 2 Week Update

Finally got the opportunity to do a proper long term test, so I thought I'd choose to base it on durability. The 2 LSP's I've chosen to test are Collinite 476s and the famed CG Jetseal.

I started it on a level playing field by machine polishing the bonnet of the ExecuVan, or Renault Kangoo as some people call it.

The bonnet was washed, clayed and then PC'd, removing all swirls and contaminants.

Thankfully the boffins at Renault graced it with a crease down the middle of the bonnet, making a comparison pretty simple to do.

Both products were applied by following the instructions very specifically for each wax/sealant.

To look at it there was no visible difference, as you'd expect really. Over the coming weeks and months I'll keep a record of how each is progressing, probably posting an update every couple of weeks or so.

The van does around 200 miles a week so it should test both of them nicely. No TFR or harsh products will be used when cleaning the van.

I'll keep you posted!

One more thing! All pictures were taken with the Nokia N95 Phone! Quite impressive I think!

2 Weeks On

Well after heavy rain I went out and took these pictures. The van hasn't being touched since I started this 2 weeks ago.

There's a little bit of a difference, the jetseal seems to have more water/beads on than the Collinite.

I'll leave it for you to judge.

This is great! Love that you are doing this :)

I have a strong feeling Collinite is going to win this one. Those are some trademark Collinite beads right there :)

The Collinite side looks like it has little 1 inch paths from top to bottom, telling me that the beads are falling off the car...Small observation

Not really concerned about the beads but "Cleaning fool" is right it seems from the picture that the water is rolling off the Collinite side.

Anyway time will tell, Collinite may drop off, who knows :) This is going to be good :)

Im still new to the whole PC and UDM thing but is that blue paint on your polishing pad??? is that normal?? Doesnt that mean the clearcoat has been removed?? sorry for the noobness, I do love your post though!

No problem Carbon Blue, we where all new at some point. Your pad will turn the color of the car when working on single stage paint. Single stage paint doesn't have a clear coat.

it is single stage paint(SS)

there is no clear coat(CC)

Great stuff Andy (its me from Tyresmoke)!!

As mentioned, looks like the Collinite beading is rolling up, thats a nice thing when the weather is warmer as you can get less water marks.

As a big fan of both collinite and jetseal, good comparison! However, the polish you chose to use before both products is relatively oily and the jetseal being a sealant may not bond very well to it compared to collinite which will bond over anything.

I hope the collinite wins :P
