Jeffs Werkstatt AJ problems

:help: I am having not so slickness, minimal water beading & not so glossy look effect with the AJ....? I compare it to M21 & the M21 is very slick, good water beading & sheeting and its very glossy & shinny look. That the AJ lose in this area. I am losing my motivation on using AJ. I applied AJ a 3 layers on a red & dark blue color car & it doesn't look good. I reapply a coat of M21 on top of it, and see the paint is much more shinier....? I'm losing my hope of using AJ.....? How do u guys find AJ...? :help: Arrgh..... Any motivation on it. TQ.

AJ/AJT is not known for beading. Apparently, it "sheets" better, which I have yet to find.

It has descent beading and OK sheeting. Nothing "over-the-top"

I haven't tried AJ but if anything both AJ and KSG are supposed to perform similarly by sheeting action and not beading. When I used KSG it beaded for the first couple of days and started to sheet there after.Personally id rather have it sheet than bead water, makes cleanups easier since there would be less to dry.

If you want a sealant that beads why not try Zaino.Just looking at the pics,it has really tight beads, very durable, and holds its appearance a very long time.Only sealants that I've used that beaded water was EX w/carnauba,far longer than EXP in my experience,#20, and UPP.

Unless you prefer, than you can always try using a wax like Collinite or #16.

Hi guys, well actually I don't mind if it doesn't bead water. I understand tht beading is not a real measure of protection is there or not. I also know its sheeting is more on sealants. The thing is after applied 1st coat, it doesn't shine much, so I applied 3 coats total. After 2nd coat it does see a bit better. But overall slickness is not very nice to touch, the shine also not as intense as M21 which just 1 coat will do. Sheeting effect also not as good as M21 or even GC. So I'm losing hope of the AJ. :( 'sigh'. Maybe its not so good in hot country weather applications.

Hi Scottwax, I am not using Prime as a base coat. I'm using claybar, DC1 to clean the previous M21 sealant coat & ISO rubdown. The paint was squeaking while I'm applying the AJ. I feel the paint, its not as slick as M16. As I know most sealants would be more slick than a carnauba rite...? But the AJ is not slick. So I conclude tht it's not good at slickness, not so good on sheeting & not as shinning as a sealant should be...? Thats why I'm losing motivation on it. :sadpace: But I do feel tht since it hard to wipe off if leave long to haze. I recon it might be a tough sealant and its durability is pretty good. But all the signs doesn't motivate me to keep on applying it. Anyway, I'm gonna put a thick very thick coat on it with few layers, and see if it helps on the shine & sheeting. :think2

The reason is our hot country, sometimes the paint sealants dries too fast even b4 it bonded properly onto the paint surface. So if I use a thick coat, it stays wet longer thus letting the sealant time to bond better on the paint. Since the AJ does dries up really fast if apply thinly. Maybe....? I'll see if it does help...?

Acrylic Jett works best over Prime or Klasse AIO.

If it is hard to remove, you are using too much...so don't think applying it more thickly will help. Once the foam hand applicator is primed, it only takes a few drops per panel. Apply a panel at a time, and if you see any thick spots, without adding more product, just take your foam pad back over those areas and knock them down, then buff off the excess with an MF towels. Apply and remove a panel at a time seems to work best.

Hi Scottwax, Yup but I did apply thinly the 1st time. I felt like nothing was there. And after wiping it off....Hehehe. I couldn't feel much slickness thus tht's why I ended up applying thicker a bit. If u are saying tht it is would be the same, meaning AJ's characteristics would be pretty much at the results I'm getting already rite..? Less slickness, not really good beading & sheeting & shine. I guess maybe I expected to much from AJ....? Honestly I was hoping it would beat my M21. I couldn't wait while I made the AJ purchase. But guess not...'sigh'. I wanted to feel happy for using the AJ, coz I was planning to get the AJT & AJC & the rest of its product range. But now I guess I'll stick back to M21 until something else comes to play again. Thanks a lot Scottwax for ur help, I appreciate ur time to guide me on this problems. TQ.

This is about as good as i can get it to look:

Prime Acrylic first and then AJ.

Takes some getting used to to apply them, they have a strange consistancy.

Slickness is good, not great but good.

It hasnt been out of the garage yet so im not sure what the beading/sheeting is like yet.

I guess so....DieselMDX :( I tested the slickness of AJ, it goes off after 2 days or so. But the M21 remain slick for bout a week. But rite now I decided to top the AJ with M16. Even so its slickness also last for 3 days or so. But the water beading is better, since its M16... TQ.

Nice work Coupe, but if u apply a few layers of AJ on red or black. IMO as I come across it kinda darken the shine or color a bit.... But it still look wet & good. I don't really know what that effect is called. If u apply M21 on top of that few layers of AJ, u see the red or black paint color shines back...? I dunno how to explain this effect tho....? I'm not saying its not a good sealant. I'm saying it has a 'different look' that I don't seems to prefer it. I'm just let down coz I paid RM109.00 for it. Thats all. Hehehe. Maybe I'm already used to the M21 shine too I guess. Thks.

I can't really help you with this at all, especially since I only have experience with Prime and Acrylic Jett: Trigger. However, I just wanted to add my 2cents: I've had exceptional durability, tight and high beading, and I've been rewarded with nothing but extremely high gloss wetness. :nixweiss </infomercial>

Prime and AJ are a bit finiky, but they are still top notch sealants. When I use AJ, I basically apply, then buff the residue with the applicator, then go back over it with an MF to clean any missed spots.

It is at 5.5 months on my father's garage queen BMW, and it is still doing pretty good. It doesn't get driven much, however there have been periods (like a week or longer) when the thing was caked in salt.

Slickness isn't great, but still better than nothing. I applied FK 425 on it in January, but other than that no QD help. Still beading and looking nice, so I'm happy.

Just my $.02

I know some of u guys do use QD to maintain sealant. Me is kinda opposite as I want to feel the real sealant/wax or the actual look of the sealant. And the actual performance of the sealant. I got FK 425 but I don't use it coz it makes the surface slick. What I'm saying is I like the original recipe....that's all. No ketchup topping or mustard topping. Hehehe. :) Even when I use M21, I use it by itself till its losing its effect. Then I reapply it. Durability is not really a problem with me coz I reapply it every 1-2 weeks. Altho I'm feeling a bit more motivated after all the support that u guys have chip in. It really helps me to feel better on the AJ. I'll keep on using the AJ, maybe we just needed time to get to know one & other. As it has a different look & feel than my previous sealant, that's all. I would still continue to use it. Thanks you kindly for all the help & motivations... :)
