Jeep Liberty - Interior Stains from Anything

I have a friend with a 2005 Jeep Liberty. It has a cloth interior. He tells me that it stains like nothing he has ever seen before. He says that if it gets wet, it leaves marks from where it was wet. I have been told that some newer GM vehicles have had this type of issue, but did not find anything on it with chrysler vehicles. Does anyone know anything about this? Any solutions? He wants me to detail the interior this weekend and I am a bit worried.



Any help is appreciated.

You will need an extractor or a quality steamer to clean the material. Nothing else will do. If you have neither, I wouldn't risk possiby adding more to the problem by trying to use any other method.

that is exactly what I am wondering about! It seems that some Scotchguard would really help. I may try some on a small spot and see what it does.
 
He must have the light colored interior, because I dont have any problems like that with the slate grey interior that is in the liberty that i own
 
first scotchgaurd is not going to remove the water stains, or water marks.



that is an involved process, you will need a HWE hot water extractor. a top quality upholstry cleaner, something specifically made for upholstry fabrics.



I suggest looking at the prochem line of upholstry cleaners.



A steamer might work, if used with the proper cleaner.



once the fabric is clean you need to get it to dry as fast as possible. that means air movement, lots of it.



home depot sells comercial air movers, open the doors and angle two air movers blowing from one side out the other.



once dry you can try some fabric protectant. Once again i suggest prochems protectants. If buying the solvent based, and i would. use the solvent based protectant before the fiber is dry, it will displace water, and aid in the drying of the fiber, on top of that as the water is evaporated it will wick the protectant more evenly over the fiber surface and sub surface.



total amount of solvent baced protectant to be used should range aobut 3 0z for a 7 seat vehicle.
 
Thanks for all of the input. I don't have an issue with cleaning the interior, I just want to get something (liek Scotchguard) on it so that this goes not happen to him again. From what I read there, it seems that Scotchguard is the way to go.
