Jeans rubbed off on leather

I was wearing a pair of blue jeans today and I was driving around in my Grand Cherokee. It has a tan interior and when I looked at the outside edge of the seat it had blue marks all over it (there is a vinyl strip on the very edge too). I tried using Meguiars #39 heavy duty vinyl cleaner, no luck. Tried Leatherique Prestine clean, no luck. Any other ideas?

Thanks.

Hmmm... Have you tried using a brush? That is pretty odd. You would think that if the dye from your jeans would transfer to the seat then you would notice that your legs are all blue too. That sounds like a quality control problem with your pants manufacturer. If you can't get it out then I'd find someone to take it up with. Try using a brush and a good all purpose cleaner perhaps.

Were they Dark blue jeans?

Jeans that are dyed dark blue(tommy jeans and stuff like that) need to be washed before they are worn otherwise the die will get on your shoes and other things.

I had this problem before, the first time I did one clients car I couldn't remove it which he was hoping my experience would do. I then ordered the leather cleaning brush from CMA used it with Lexol cleaner and the blue color was gone. The brush is very cheap and has helped me get rid of a few hard spots in leather. I only use it when necessary.

i wear jeans a lot and this has happend in every one of my cars. wether the jeans were new or not. lexol always gets it out though. i have noticed it more prone to happening when the jeans were wet from rain

this happened to my cousins corvette she had the tan leather seats and she worn black jeans and they faded on the seats so i tried some Meguiar's Leather Wipes and it took the black off off the tan seats

yep, they're dark jeans. Some cheap-o pair. I will try the brush thing in the morning. I'm outta lexol so I'll try the dawn thing.

Thanks again.

You may want to see what you are cleaning your seats with. The product may have a chemical in it that may cause the dye to transfer over to the seats. Good luck in getting it out and let us know what you are using.
