Ever since I took out some scratches on my dad's buddy's '07 Caddy STS, he thinks I'm some kind of surgeon with my polishers. I tell him that it really depends on several variable on whether you can remove the scratch or not. Well, he took delivery of an '08 Jaguar XKR Portfolio edition last Friday. According to Car & Driver, only about 255 are coming to the U.S. He's always been a big Jag XK fan. Anyway, his car showed up with this:
It was wide, deep, and on the plastic piece of the bumper that wraps around by the rear wheels. I took my PC 4" orange and some IP to it, and it smoothed it out a little. Took the Flex, orange pad, and IP to it, and smoothed it out a little more, but this baby was just too deep. I told him that I don't even think a rotarty would knock it out. So, not really a brag, but thought you guys would enjoy seeing some pics. BTW, I had him ask the dealer what they use for prepping cars, and they use Menzerna in their shop. That was at least good to see. Also, there was a bird poop etching spot on the hood that I was able to knock out with the PC + 4" orange + IP. Onto the pics:
The paint is called celestial black, and it is probably one of the nicest looking paint jobs I've ever seen on a car
Probably the best feature of the interior
Again, nothing much to brag about. If anyone has any suggestions for deep scratch removal on plastic bumpers, I'm all ears. He doesn't want to get it re-painted obviously, and is leary of having their guy work on it with a rotary.
