I wanted to find a car to test the top end of Optimum's Car Polish in the area of defect removal. This car was the right choice as the previous owner spent years going to automatic carwashes and or washing it by hand with god knows what

Some before shots taken with a 70-200mm zoom lens while standing next to the car so I could dial in the defects. Almost every inch of the car was covered in swirls and/or scratches

And now after before applying any LSP's

I did the work on Saturday but had access to the car duing the week to try some things and it quickly became apparent that the LC Orange VC pad alone was not going to cut it. I let the machine do all the work and applied only enough pressure to the head of the machine to make it go where I wanted it to.

All in all I can say I'm still impressed with this product. Not just because of the shine but because of the limited/no dusting (which saves on clean-up time) and the long working time (which meant I didn't have to pick up the pad as often and could really work the panels.

There are some defects (water spots) on the roof that OCP couldn't get out, but I wanted to wait till my sample of the Compound got here (DHL dropped it off today) instead of using the HCL.

I think it looks great! A 100% improvement as that paint was in need of some serious TLC :waxing:

I hope the Compound works out well for you.

Thanks tony, and thanks for replying the other day, I think I'm going to have to treat David's pads a little different than my others.

wow - nice work - that's super shiny :)

i think I'm gonna try to order a 3M Black Polishing Pad (looks like it did a great job) with my PC. I'm doing everything by hand and it takes ages. I can hardly type with my right hand because I've spent 5 hours on a Honda Accord Euro.

I like them and they are probaly the most under-rated pad on this board, I used it to follow the wool pads to clean things up and bring up the shine.
