It's so sad that Obama's Grandmother died...

One day before her grandson became president

Maybe he should have used the time he spent at the courthouse sealing his birth records during his Hawaii trip with her instead...

Just my opinion, I make no apologies. She was in her last hours and he was taking a stroll "on camera" for propaganda. My thoughts are with his family, but he used his grandmother's health to promote his campaign and cover up a trip to Hawaii to hide the fact that he is not even eligible to be President...

FactCheck.org: Born in the U.S.A.

Update, Nov. 1: The director of Hawaii’s Department of Health confirmed Oct. 31 that Obama was born in Honolulu.

Update Nov. 1: The Associated Press quoted Chiyome Fukino as saying that both she and the registrar of vital statistics, Alvin Onaka, have personally verified that the health department holds Obama's original birth certificate.

Fukino also was quoted by several other news organizations. The Honolulu Advertiser quoted Fukino as saying the agency had been bombarded by requests, and that the registrar of statistics had even been called in at home in the middle of the night.

Honolulu Advertiser, Nov. 1 2008: "This has gotten ridiculous," state health director Dr. Chiyome Fukino said yesterday. "There are plenty of other, important things to focus on, like the economy, taxes, energy." . . . Will this be enough to quiet the doubters? "I hope so," Fukino said. "We need to get some work done."

Fukino said she has “personally seen and verified that the Hawaii State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures."

1. An opinion and a fact are 2 different things. Opinions should be based on facts.

2. Fukino is a pretty funny name.

3. As interested as I am in the election, I can't wait to get back to posting things like "I prefer lexol" and having people post "105 is awesome" when it is all over.

4. It is always a sad thing to lose a close family member (especially one that raises you).

That's too bad. Now we get to hear the republicans whine for 4/8 years.

The Democrats have had control of the house for 2 yrs now and they already have a lower rating then Bush. But you will never hear about that on MSNBC or CNN will you?

You are aware that John McCain was born outside of the US? He was born in Panama, while his father was stationed there in the Navy. Does that make him a "natural-born" citizen as is required by the Constitution to become president?

Perhaps the reason that neither campaign has brought up the "eligiblity" of the other to be president is this: Acquisition of U.S. Citizenship by a Child Born Abroad (That link is to the US State Dept...I know you can't believe everything on the internet, but maybe you can believe that)

If that is too much reading for you, here is the key quote: "Birth Abroad to One Citizen and One Alien Parent in Wedlock: A child born abroad to one U.S. citizen parent and one alien parent acquires U.S. citizenship at birth". So even if it was true that Obama was born out of the US (which it isn't), he would still be a citizen at birth and as "natural-born" as McCain.

EDIT: As I pointed out in another thread, the Dems have done some colossally stupid things in the past, but doing something so stupid as to nominate a candidate who was actually ineligible to be president would be about the stupidest, don't you think? That's not exactly an office-winning strategy. Two weeks before the election would probably be a pretty stupid time to try to cover up birth records, also, don't you think? If I was trying to pull one over on the country I probably would have done that before I announced I was running for President and had a Secret Service and press contingent traveling with me. Do you think he told the Secret Service guys "hey, stay out here, I'm just going in to cover up my birth records, don't mention this to your boss"?

EDIT EDIT: Just another thought, do you think that maybe they check if you're eligible at the time you register to run for President? When you go for a driver's license, they want to look at your birth certificate to see if you're old enough...they don't wait and check that the first time you get pulled over.

Your opinion is in the wrong place. There already is a presidential thread you could bring this up in. You don't need to hijack the OP's thread with your political comments. You speak about respecting your opinion, yet you can't even respect the fact that someone's grandmother died.

Further your original comment doesn't even make sense. If he wasn't born in Hawaii, why would he have birth records there?

You can answer somewhere in here: Education, Politics and Religion - Autopia.org

D'oh! Now I feel like Dr. Watson to your Sherlock Holmes! Well done, man.

My Autopian brothers are more important than my political views on this forum. I deleted my original post as it was seen in bad taste.
