Well, it has been a while since I have visited the site - a combination of life taking place and the web nazis at work blocking Autopia. :furious:
Not much has changed since I last visited - just my transportation. On May 21st, My wife and I were going home after celebrating my little sister's high school graduation when a coulpe of illegal immigrants in a Dodge Caravan ran a red light and collided with the car to our left, pushing it into our car. Luckily, everybody was uninjured (the drivers of the van were able to run away), the only casualties were the three vehicles involved - all totaled. The driver's door of my GTI was pushed into the cabin about a foot, wrinkling the floorpan and various other expensive-to-repair parts. Sadly, my insurance had to pay since the van driver (whom has yet to be found - and probably never will be) had no insurance. Luckily we were able to pay the car off, and have a little extra money left over to use as a down payment for the next vehicle.
This time when shopping for a car, I decided to get something that isn't very common, somehting that would suit my ideals for what fun to drive car should be. It so happened that a red 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder fit the bill, and there was a prime example for sale near me. To make a long story short, we got the car, and couldn't be happier - I will have to post pictures of it soon, but not yet as it isn't up to Autopian standards. The previous owner was meticulous - but not obsessed.
Anyway, I'd like to say hi again, and it's glad to see that David and the moderators are doing a great job keeping this place up and running! :xyxthumbs
