It's been a while since we've had a "must have" thread, so...

Let's have another one!

What are your "core" or "I gotta have it" products?

Mine...

Car Soap: Chemical Guys Citrus Wash N Gloss.

Reason: Most other shampoos concentrate on being nothing more than a lubricant. CW&G actually has cleaners in it.

Microfibers: Eurow shag weave

Reason: I have yet to find a softer MF

Compound: M105

Reason: As most everyone knows, it's the most versatile compound around. Capable of serious correction while finishing down more like a medium weight polish.

Medium polish that you can finish with: M205

Reason: This polish finishes down *almost* as well as a finishing polish, while doing an unbelievable amount of correction, and it's *so* easy to use!

Finishing Polish: 3M UltraFina

Reason: It doesn't matter how soft the clear coat is, if you work at it, you can get UF to finish off amazingly well with zero holos. It is also the easiest to use (by rotary) polish there is. It just doesn't get better or easier than ultrafina.

Sealant based glaze: Danase Wet Glaze.

Reason: This stuff is amazing. It pops the gloss like CRAZY, does an amazing amount of concealing, and is almost idiot proof it's so easy to apply. One of my all time favorite products.

Oil based glaze: Red Moose Machine Glaze.

Reasion: This was a toughy, as there's a lot of good glazes out there. But when you need an all-around good glaze, it's hard to beat RMG. (Just don't sniff it... trust me on this... ;) )

Sealant: FK1 1000P

Reason: I have yet to see a sealant match 1000P's durability, looks, ease of cleaning.

Wax: Collinite IW (although it could really be considered a hybrid)

Reason: Same reason as 1000P, really.

Misc: ONR

Reason: It does soooo many things, and it does them all very well. Gimme two gallons of distilled water, a bucket, two ounces of ONR, two MF's, and I get a clean car, inside and out.

Well, anyway, those are my absolute Must Have products. Yup, there's a ton of other stuff I have/use/love, but when it comes right down to it, I GOTTA have the stuff listed above.

For me, ONR (or DP R&G). It does so much: rinsless wash, window cleaner, QD in a pinch.

Collinite 845 IW: same reasons, excellent durability

Meguiars UC and SwirlX: essentially consumer based polishes (compared to the harder bite of M105) that work quite well and finish nicely.

Poor Boy's Black Hole: excellent glaze (I have heard great things about Danase, just have not tried it yet)

Honestly, I could just give up everything else and stick with the Optimum line. While there are better individual products, the Optimum system works so well and makes detailing easier. Now if I could just get Opti-clay.....

Good list. As for the Eurow shag weave towels, though: I have owned these for quite some time (I have more than a dozen of them) and I have been a big proponent of them in the past, but I have become pretty disappointed in them recently as they are linting like crazy.

I can no longer use them for QD'ing because they leave too much lint stuck to the paint.

+1 on this!

If I ever decide to settle down and stop chasing rainbows, I would just confine myself to Optimum products.

Yeah, I mentioned this in a thread a few months back, and it seemed that I was the only one supposedly having this problem. The weird thing is that I have got good performance out of them for the first year and a half or more, then out of nowhere they started linting really badly.

When I first noticed it, I thought/hoped that it was just one of the towels, so I tried another....and another......and a fourth, and they are all doing it. :(

105, not because its heavy but because its versatile and can finish down excellent. Menzerna Power finish for medium

106FA or 85rd for finishing

EZ Creme Glaze to prep paint

blackfire wet diamond for protection

a few randoms..

Optimum Instant Detailer

I use tons of this step. It smells GREAT and looks awesome. I dilute it for clay lube as well since its lubrication makes the job easy.

Detailed Image's Rethickulous towels

Chemical Guys Wheel Gel

EZ Detail Brush

My super secret WW drying towels... lol best I've used by far. Only complaint is they are smaller, but it just makes it easier to work with... Oh and i call them super secret cuz I used to sell them and can no longer find them.

Honestly, I think there's only 1 must have for me in terms of detailing and car maintenance, and that's ONR. I use this stuff so much. I can't imagine going back to using the suds or spending money on general QD products.

I'll give an honorable mention to Opti-Seal as my no brainer LSP, and #16, although discontinued, as my favorite all around paste wax.

my must have list has some of the following

Wash : megs gold class shampoo

Clay: Riccardo Yellow with Mothers Showtime Detailer as a Lube

Compound: M105/ PB SSR 2.5

Glass: Stoners IG Aerosol cans

Scratches: Megs ScratchX 2.0

Trim: Stoners Trim Restorer Aerosol

Wheels: Megs All Wheel Cleaner Hot Rims, Armor All Extreme Tire Gel ** works well for me and very durable

RAIN-X

Wax: Megs Ultimate Quik Wax (amazing for quick jobs, touch ups and budget tight details) OR P21s concours look paste wax ...

PORTER CABLE 7424 for any home do it yourselfer ... if not then a makita or flex ... wish i had one but cant afford yet

Oh, I need to add Klasse AIO. It just gets everything off paint and trim with ease. Without being abrasive. And it even leaves a bit of protection behind. It's the first thing I reach for if I have a stubborn water spot or I accidentally leave some RaggTopp on my paint.

I found some 1000P I had slopped on my black plastic trim around my side mirrors. It had been there for a month and I was worried it was permanently stained. KAIO got it right off.

ONR and the blue Clay Magic are the two products I must have. Although I like many products I must admit that going with the Optimum line is great for me since I only do my family cars. The ease of use, minimal learning curve with the polishes, quality and overall value of Optimum products is pretty hard to beat.
