It's a good thing the house doesn't have wheels....

I was thinking yesterday (did you smell the smoke?) about how much thought and effort it takes to keep the truck in good shape. Vacuuming, treating vinyl and plastic, washing, claying, polishing, sealing, paint touch-up....
Then it hit me...it's a good thing the house doesn't have wheels! I dunno if I could manage it!!!

Between the house and the cars...I'm always fixing, cleaning, repairing, upgrading something. And I think my most insane moment came shortly after I got my pc 10+ years ago, was living in a rental, and polished all the appliances to get a feel for the tool before I used it on the cars. When we moved out the landlord said the kitchen looked amazing!

Well. I have become a Merry maid with the weather here 100-115. It is amazing to find all the places and things around the house that need cleaning when your walking around doing the Military inspection ;). Unlike a vehicle a house could be a constant job as there are so many knooks and cranny's not to mention walls,Tile, Rugs, ceilings, appliances etc.. It is definately something to keep you busy.

You been drinkin'?

Regularly....what's your point?

I was really just looking at the outside pondering the weekly two bucket wash (I have aluminum siding), clay and sealant. I'll confess I've pressure washed a time or two over the last 35~ years, but nothing like the attention the ride(s) gets.

Keeping our house clean and the grounds properly landscaped takes me incomparably more time/effort than I spend on the cars. Just the daily housekeeping takes many times what I put into the vehicles.

davidc- In my case, it *IS* a constant job. Every. Day. Though I do let things slide a little during the Holiday Season.

When was the last time you did a two bucket wash, clay, polish and seal the house??? ;)

Heh heh, I do know a guy who, for decades, waxed his rain gutters. I thought he was nuts and still do, but then there's no practical way to do mine.

What I did just finish doing is a whole lotta cleaning using a BHB with a rinseless wash, buffed dry with a plush MF. Got two rooms done in just a few hours. That and vacuuming most of the house was the chore-list for today.

MiVor- Well, now you're all rested up for whatever needs doing ;)

Sometimes wish I could do the Power Nap thing, but that never leaves me refreshed the way it oughta for some reason, just makes me feel lethargic.. like I've broken my rhythm or something.

It seems like the older I get the more sleep I need. Maybe cause when I was a youngster I burned the candle at both ends (and my wick got short!)? Anyways, as long as I keep waking up, I guess I'm doing okay.

I wonder if the wife asked a man to "detail the house" rather than detail the rides what the response would be.

IMO sleep is good. Well, *quality* sleep is good. Study of athletes showed that when they upped the nightly sleep to 9 or more hours athletic performance improved. I get 8 hours *minimum* and average well over that.

Accumulatorette never explicitly *asked* me (much less as an either/or regarding the cars; she likes 'em nice too), but I do the household cleaning basically solo. Eh, I'm better at it anyhow and it's no different from when I was single.
