Is ZFX needed for a maintenace Z2?

Let's say you've Z5/FXed and Z2/FXed to your satisfaction

and you just want to do a maintenance Z2 every 4 weeks

or so :

1- Does it buy you anything by using the ZFX for that coat

or is it better to save it for when you layer?

Reasoning is that will the Z2/FXed dry faster protecting you

from things like bird bombs and or a flash thunder storm, etc.

** Sorry for asking so many Zaino startup questions. Will settle

down as I learn the proper protocol. **

You do not have to use ZFX after you have a layer of Z down.

Some say the ZFX gives a better look. Try it once with and once without. Post your results. I am interested myself.

I always like to add some ZFX to my Z5/Z2 maintenance layers. I believe it makes it much easier to use (faster cure time, easier application/removal, etc), and if a little extra shine is added by ZFX, hey, all the better!

I mix up one ounce of Z2 with 4 drops of ZFX and go from there.

If the 4 drops add those extra goodies then it's ZFX all the time!

Steve, did you ever get to try that Sprayway Glass?

The results are worth using it for every coat, but it is not required......you can layer on coats without it.

Every 4 weeks is overkill for maintainance....unless you are just a layer addict like some of us........I would wash and Z6 often....at least once a week....you will find that after a few coats of Zaino you will see no need to layer on more coats for a while.

WHat!

I don't have to throw on a layer every 4 weeks!

I'm so used to it with my carnuba cocktail that I don't

know what i'm going to do with myself.

Maybe I'll go out and get a life now. LOL

Really, I'm starting to like the low Zaino upkeep already.

Little work in the beginning but that's OK.

I see swirls that I did not see with the carnuba. I should of

listened to my rep and worried about the multi Z5 coats first

before applying Z2. Only did 1 of each for start up.

I will do multiple Z5's this spring when I clay. Cold in NYC.

RD - yeah, I tried the Sprayaway. Seems pretty good!

One last note about ZFX/Z2/Z5...you can apply the Z5 over the top of Z2 without any trouble. I recently applied a few coats of Z5 on my Tahoe (on top of Z2 which was already there), along with a new coat of Z2 in an attempt to cover a few minor scratches from tree branches/etc (roof). It went on fine and 3 coats of Z5 hid most of the little scratch marks.

All should be ok.

Yeah Steve, It seems you can overlap 2 and 5 and vicevers

with no problem. I've been lurking Zaino and it seems

3 coats of 5 seem to be a universal swirl/scratch elimination

number.

Just Cali Dusted, and found that Zaino does not microstreak

like carnubas. Therefore no need for Z6 as much as regular

DQing. Maybe Z6 on Thursday or Friday to set up for the weekend.

there is the gloss issue, but also the issue to consider is cure time. You can put on up to 3 coats of Z2/FX on in about an hour and a half, versus one coat of Z2 straight every 24 hours.

its up to you, but personally I prefer the ZFX method for many reasons. :xyxthumbs
