is this overkill

This is the steps I'm going to do on my new car. It has a few waterspots no swirls.

Wash 50/50 isopropyl Alcohol (the dealer put on a silicon sealer on it before I picked the car up)

Wash w/car soap and clay

Polish with #9 swirl remover

Polish with Deep Crystal Polish

Wax with #26

Is polishing twice overkill?

Does it hurt or help putting more than one coat of polish on prior to waxing? Or is it better to put on more than one coat of wax? Or is it better to do both?

I would wash and clay first then use the IPA, No polishing twice is hardly overkill at all especially on this site ;)

Polish until you remove the defects. I can't really say how effective those specific polishes you have will do. Lots of folks like to layer their last step product: sealnts topped with wax is very popular here. At minimum if you're going to use wax alone, I would apply it, buff it off, wait aday and apply another coat, that way you've ensured you have covered the entire surface of car.

Can't say, the NXT users would need to chime in. However, once you top your sealant with wax, you can only layer the wax afterwards, you'd have to strip everything off if you wanted to add a sealant again

If you're looking for a sealant that is layerable, the most popular ones I know of are Zaino and Klasse. Are you planning on topping with wax after you reach the amount of layers you want with the sealant?

Go with the NXT then. I'm pretty sure you can top that with wax. You can try doing a search on that here, PM Mike Phillips or visit his site Meguiarsonline.com You'll get the definite answer that way

HTH!

yup two applications of NXT, preferbly 12 hours between application, if not possible, at least one hour. also check out the meguiaronline.com forum for his article about topping NXT. some people do, some people don't. but his article gives you a good suggestion to see if topping NXT is something you'll like.

and polishing twice may not be necessary. since you don't have any swirls, you may be able to just use the DC Polish, and top it off with NXTx2. do a section of the car, like the hood, with the DC Polish, and see if it gives you the look you like.

the 'learn' buttom at the top right has some good articles about the different steps involved in getting the perfect shine. meguiars.com also has some good recommendations on their website, i think the FAQ section.
